Introduction
It’s worth noting that the teams shown may not necessarily end up being the final teams or the transfers may have been made in the days prior to the posting . It’s an informal situation to give you an idea of trends.

Gameweek 36 saw 9/11 of my players return, resulting in a score of 108 points. Ederson and Burn were the only players to blank while Haaland and Nicolas Jackson were the main contributors of points with double digit returns. Both Isak and Gordon would’ve also ended up with a double digit score if Isak hadn’t missed a penalty which Gordon won.
My main dilemma heading into gameweek 36 was who to bench between Son, Gordon, Fernandes and Jackson. I ended up benching Son, however I got his points from the bench anyway as Fernandes didn’t make the Manchester United squad for their defeat to Crystal Palace. 108 points was enough for a green arrow which saw my rise from 47k to 36k.
Heading into double gameweek 37 I have 2 free transfers and £1.3 million in the bank. The bench boost chip is active and I already have 13 doublers in place, with my 2 Arsenal defenders only playing once. I’ve been fortunate not to have picked up as many injuries as other managers and Bruno Fernandes is the only player I currently have flagged.
As Fernandes is flagged, it’s very likely I’ll use a transfer to move him out and bring Richarlison in in his place, who plays twice this week and then has a favourable fixture away to Sheffield United in gameweek 38. I plan to roll the second transfer in order to give me flexibility for the final gameweek of the season. Haaland will get the armband.

GW36 Review
A near perfect FPL week with 10/11 returners and a welcome shot in the arm to my season. 2023/24 has been a frustrating one for sure, but that’s 4 green arrows in the last 5 gameweeks now and perhaps there is some chance of being able to salvage some semblance of decent overall rank to finish the campaign.
Perhaps rather than going through who returned, it was be more prudent to start with who didn’t – you know who you are Dan Burn. To be fair, he was only a few minutes away from a clean sheet and was the only blank in a week that contained 2 clean sheets, 5 assists and 9 goals included a bumper four-goal haul from Captain Haaland. There was a bit of bench jam too – Bruno’s injury meaning Gordon’s assist came off my bench to put the cherry on top of the week.
Crucially though, it was a 29% rank gain and with 2 gameweeks left I am know only 18 points from the top 100k. I said a couple of weeks ago that I’d be happy to finish in the top 200k but top 100k could be possible now, especially with my Bench Boost to come this week….
