Gameweek 10 saw me score 81 points resulting in another green arrow. 7 out of my starting 11 returned points with Haaland, Son and Diaby all getting double digit hauls. After initially receiving a red arrow when wildcarding in gameweek 7, I’ve since had 3 green arrows in a row taking me from 3.7 million up to 670k. Hopefully the green arrows will continue to come in the coming weeks.

I’m happy with how my team looks for gameweek 11 so I’m planning on rolling my free transfer. Haaland will be me captain against a leaky Bournemouth side this week. The Cherries sit 2nd bottom for xGC so far this season and I’m fairly confident Haaland will do well.

Transfer summary:  Likely to carry over the free transfer

Here’s the team prior to any transfer being made

GW10 review

Put simply, that was probably the best return I have ever had from a post-wildcard gameweek. In previous seasons, I have had positive gameweeks, but the significant gains have come from players who the majority of managers already own or have also moved for on their wildcards. For the GW10 wildcarders, the template consisted of the power 5 attackers (Haaland, Salah, Son, Saka & Watkins) plus a defence made up of Cash, Gabriel & Tsimikas backed up by Areola in goal. Therefore, the performance of 6th and 7th attackers was critical in how you would compare against the other managers using the chip.

In my team, I had Nketiah and Diaby here and, luckily for me, they delivered handsomely. Nketiah was a late call following news from Arteta on Friday that Jesus would be out for ‘a few weeks’ so I took that punt in the hope of a having a cheap Arsenal striker for fixtures against Sheffield United and Burnley (GW12). A hat-trick in his first fixture is more than I could have ever hoped for and I feel very fortunate to have received that type of return at such a low ownership. Anything else against Burnley will just be an added bonus.

I do have one small frustration with myself in that amidst the wildcard planning, I somehow completely forgot to sort my bench out. I think that I just assumed all my starting XI would play, but Gabriel received a rest which meant that Maguire came into my team instead of the goalscoring Taylor. A rather stupid mistake which cost me 5 points and a place in the 100-point club for the gameweek. Overall though, I cannot complain about a GW rank of 92k and I now sit inside the top 100k for the first time this season – let’s hope I can stay there!
