Introduction

This is part 4 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. In the future it also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

Gameweek 16 was particularly disastrous for my team and caps a rotten last month that has seen me plummet from approximately 30k to 160k. I just can’t seem to catch a break at the moment! My refusal to bring in players from the team I support, Spurs, is now costing me. Similarly, United’s large fan base means that their players will always be popular picks, so their recent form has contributed to my decline.

It’s not even that I’m that unhappy with my team. But I think I’ve been a little slow to pick up form players – Son, Alli, Ings, Rashford come to mind. Meanwhile, I have a core of players that have been unlucky but ultimately haven’t returned. I’m looking at you, De Bruyne and Pulisic. Mané and Alexander Arnold’s benching last week just about put the icing on the cake.

For this week, I’ve removed Jimenez and brought in Rashford. In form, focal to United’s attack, reasonably high ownership and good fixtures: he ticks all the boxes.

I’ve currently got the armband on Vardy, but I wouldn’t rule out a last minute switch to Mané.

Best of luck to you all.

Prakhar Patel

Prakhar finished with a rank of 17k last season and an incredible 17th overall in 17/18

GW16 points: 63 (FPL average 54) Total points 917 Gameweek rank 2,190k, Overall Rank: 229k, green arrow 4k , Team Value: £102.0m

Mousset in for Teemu Pukki out.   I think Sheffield have three good fixtures coming up and this pick could work as a good differential for me.   Captaincy is a tough one this week with both Salah and Vardy equally tempting and there is not much to separate them but I am going for Salah and it’s a bit of risk but I think he outscores Vardy this week!    Bench looks horrible right now so let’s hope it is not required.   Good luck everyone and may your arrows be green 😀

GW16 Review:

Decent gameweek this week scoring 65 with a 40k green arrow. Returns from 5 of my players including Son which made me very happy after a blank the previous week. I just cannot seem to get the captain pick right, fortunately this week Mane didn’t play so it got switched for me to Vardy. Didn’t write anything last week due to time constraints but I’m still bitter about the first time I switch from Mane to Vardy captain Mane outscores him by 10… Just not been my season so far.

GW17:

Mousset and Pulisic Transfers: Currently have 2 free transfers and have done a lot of deliberation, even getting the Geek himself involved. I wanted to remove Pulisic as I’ve been unimpressed by his end product since bringing him in. Therefore, I wanted to either remove him alongside someone else or on his own. I considered 3 options:

1)  Mousset and Pulisic out for Abraham and Dendoncker in.

2) Pulisic and Robertson or Alexander Arnold out  for Maddison and Aurier in.

3) Pulisic out for Martial in.

Option 1:  I liked as it gives me some template cover on Abraham but not a fan of having two weak midfielders and I’m not convinced by Chelsea currently after their 3 losses in their last 4.

Option 2:  Again gives me some template cover of Maddison but his fixtures aren’t great in 18 & 19 and I don’t really want to lose a Liverpool defender for Watford at home.

Option 3:  This is the option I eventually decided to go with. Martial has great underlying stats, he’s got some great fixtures coming up and United were excellent versus City. So to summarise I decided to do Pulisic out to Martial in.

Bench:

Saka third, Rico second and Sir Lundstrum first. 6 blanks out of the last 7 gameweeks so going to bench him and play Mousset as I don’t rate the Villa defence greatly.

Captain:

Liverpool have a great fixture against Watford and are in fine form currently, so I must go with Mane. Vardy is always a good option, especially against Norwich but going to go with my instincts and stick with Mane. (Therefore, you should probably go Vardy)

Good luck with gameweek 17.
