Here’s our FPL tips GW5 article where the FFGeek contributors show us their team before the transfer deadline. Here’s part 1 with Rob, Joseph, Alex, Shayne, Keith, FPL word and Mikael L. Danielsen. All these FPL managers finished in at least the top 0.5% last season

FPL TIPS GW5 – FFGEEK CONTRIBUTORS SHOW THEIR TEAMS FOR GW5 – PART 1

We’re conyinuing in the series where 10 or so FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories show their teams before the gameweek deadline. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may subsequently change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont covering early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more. There will also be times when people don’t produce their teams for whatever reason.

I’m still a little shaky on the formatting so if it doesn’t work out 100% forgive me

A surprising 20k green arrow last week despite an average score and my risk of selling Kane backfiring. Morata however did score and rewarded me for giving him the armband so not all negative.

Would have loved to buy Kane back but unfortunately I’ve got several other fires to fight starting with the midfield. Willian and Atsu were both benched last week so one needs to go. Willian was the obvious one and I’ve opted for Spurs coverage to offset the Kane factor. Eriksen vs Alli here; I’ve gone for the Dane.

I’ve taken a points hit to bring Davies in as well. He’s replaced non-playing Long at the back. This gives me a better clean sheet option than Monreal or Mee offer this week, both of whom could easily end up scoring 0. Also sets me up nicely until GW8 when implant to play my Wildcard – gives me a 4-3-3 option next 2 weeks and gets rid of someone who’s getting 0 every week.

Do I plan to buy back Kane? Honestly/foolishly still probably not! I’d have to sell Lukaku and with 56% ownership, playing his former club this week and then more nice fixtures coming up I’m sticking with Big Rom.

Selection this week: I’ve opted for Elliott in goal over Forster with his home fixture. I also fancy Palace to break their goal duck under new management. It’s then one of Atsu or Carroll. The former was benched last week but I think is more likely to return so I’ve gone for him.

Armband is on Eriksen at the moment, might change to Lukaku tomorrow though – will tweet if I do. Good luck folks!

As some of you may have read in my article, I played my wildcard last week and it was fairly successful. I was rewarded with 57 points which could have been improved if I had stuck with Kane as captain and not benched Ben Mee’s clean sheet. Had I remained with my old team and transfers planned, it would have returned 51(-4); even that score involves presuming that I’d captained Kane over Lukaku. I’m certainly happier with the look of my team now, so I’m glad that I used it.

The wildcard was meant to make this week’s transfers much simpler. The plan was to roll over the transfer as the fixtures looked good but Pogba’s midweek injury has ruined that. There was the temptation to downgrade to a budget option such as Gross or Choupo-Moting. However, we have seen a few flash in the pan cheap midfielders this season already so I preferred to looks at the more proven fantasy assets.

I had 8.1mil to spend which ruled out ideal options like Eriksen and Mahrez as I didn’t want to take a hit so soon after playing the wildcard. I narrowed it to the following choices; Pedro, Silva and Antonio who all have their merits and faults. Pedro scored in the Champions league midweek and had a better points per minute record than Hazard last year but rarely lasts 90 minutes. Silva is a quality player with a great assists record but doesn’t have the best goal threat. Antonio is the key man for West Ham and played brilliantly on Monday night but it may be too early to take the punt on a Hammers player. They all have similar difficulty of upcoming fixtures so it’s not easy.

Currently, I am very undecided on who to bring in and it will be a decision for Friday evening. Silva’s price rise on Thursday night has ruled him out so I’m leaning towards Antonio at the moment. What I can say for certain is that I will be transferring Pogba out and I will be captaining Kane. The rest of the team looks good and the only other decision is who to play out of Cedric and Brady. However, I’m leaning towards the Burnley man and his set-piece ability given Liverpool’s poor record from corners and free-kicks.

Starting at the back it’s good and bad news for my team; the good was bringing in Ben Davies early in the week for Danilo and avoiding any injuries during European games, the bad is Mbemba’s injury meaning Monreal has to start away to Chelsea! I may start Mbemba on the off chance he starts but this seems very unlikely.

The midfield is also a mix of good and bad; very happy with Mkhitaryan and Eriksen. Both have form and fixtures. Then my punts on Mooy (who at least has a goal for me!) and Richarlison (still looks good but not producing points and very poor fixtures) are not really paying off. I’m considering a few options but most likely they will stay until I wildcard.

Upfront I’m happy for now. Lots of chatter and high profile managers dropping Lukaku for cheaper options. I can see the financial appeal but I will give him a few more weeks before deciding as I’m petrified of his ownership!

Kane will be my captain with form and fixtures. I’m more than happy to be maxed out on Spurs assets right now.

Good luck everyone.

My transfer was mane out and salah in, my current captain is Alli but I might change to Lukaku.

I’m looking to transfer Danilo out and bring in Keane next gameweek, since Everton’s fixtures from week 6 to at least 15 are great!

Overall my transfer selections thus far have let me down, hopefully I can rebound this week and going forward.  Good luck!

GW4 was pretty good for me, 64(-4) as I captained Kane and got points from Mee, Alderweireld, Pogba, Ritchie and Lukaku. Pogba’s injury was a huge blow. I had 0.1 ITB and could make a straight swap to Mkhitaryan, but I missed his price rise and was forced to take another hit — that’s my third of the season and third in a row. I’ve brought in Mahrez, who appears to be a nice differential and has several good fixtures until GW11 when I’m planning to wildcard. In order to get funds for him I had to downgrade Alderweireld to Davies, which hopefully won’t be a downgrade in points’ terms. Davies has been incredible so far, so involved in the box. I’m hoping to get a cleansheet and an assist from him against Swansea. Captain Kane, naturally.

2 FT. Heaton and Mee out for Fabianski and Cedric. Both Burnley players could have dropped in price before deadline but didn’t in the end.. After the Spurs game Swansea has a nice run of fixtures. Saints are bad atm, but still solid at the back. Cedric had a shot a target last game and could get some attacking returns (and CS off course). Saints still have a pretty easy run of fixtures).  Good luck!

Thanks to all the contributors above and good luck. Part 2 to come
