Kalidou Koulibaly
Stats
Kalidou Koulibaly to Chelsea from Napoli is complete for £33.8m. He’s yet to be priced in FPL.
Koulibaly is a 31 yo Senegalese CB who started 27 games plus 0 as sub for Napoli in Serie A 21/22. He scored 3 goals & 3 assists for a G/A every 401 minutes. That’s good for a CB. The top Goalscoring CB last season was Gabriel with 5 goals and 0 assists. That was a goal or assist every 612 minutes. Laporte with 4 goals and 2 assists was a goal or assist every 471 minutes.
He’s the Senegal Captain with 62 Caps and he’s played 26 UCL matches
FPL Prospects
With the loss of Rudiger and Christensen and the potential loss of Azpilicueta there’s no doubt he will go into the team straight away. Especially as Sarr and Chalobah both had form and Tuchel confidence issues.
While attacking FB monsters £6.0m James and £6.0m Chilwell plus £5.0m cheapie GK Mendy are the better options this is the first step in getting the defence right where we have confidence in their clean sheet ability. The back 3 assuming Tuchel continues with it will be Koulibaly, Silva and one other. 2 quality CBs are still needed, as Silva will be rotated, before complete confidence is restored for them to be the 3rd best defensive team with the hope of 18 clean sheets or so. PSG’s Kimpembe is rumoured as well as Sevilla’s Kounde.
Thomas Strakosha
Stats
Thomas Strakosha to Brentford from Lazio on a free transfer. Priced at £4.5m in FPL.
Strakhosa is a 27 yo Albanian GK who started 23 games plus 0 as sub for Lazio in Serie A 21/22.
He has 19 caps for the Albanian National team plus he’s made 164 appearances in Serie A and he’s played 26 Europa League matches
FPL Prospects
He has to now be a real threat to the number 1 GK £4.5m David Raya. Raya has been a popular pick and could be picked with a £4.0m back up in Balcombe. That’s now out the window and for those managers they will have to hope that pre-season makes it clear which GK is first choice.
Deniz Undav
Stats
Deniz Undav to Brighton from Royale Union Saint Gilloise in the Belgium First Division. He was originally signed in January but loaned back. The Transfer fee was £7.2m. Priced at £5.5m in FPL.
Undav is a 25 yo Turkish CF who started 39 games plus 0 as sub for Union in The Belgium First Division A in 21/22. He scored 26 goals plus 13 assists for a G/A every 88 minutes. That’s hugely impressive.
He has yet to earn any caps for the Turkish team or play in any European Competitions
Here’s a Youtube highlights video
FPL prospects
Unless pre-season brings out some surprises then I can’t see him starting GW1. Potter regularly only starts with 1 striker and Maupay and Welbeck fought over that position last season with Trossard playing as a false 9 against tougher opposition. Just the fact that he’s new to the league and the other 2 are experienced means I think it will take time before he starts. That’s unless he has a stellar preseason.
A shame as Brighton have good fixtures and a cheap striker would be handy as it takes until £6.0m for their to be anyone as a guaranteed starter in the newly promoted trio of Solanke, Awoniyi and Johnson.
Keane Lewis-Potter
stats
Lewis-Potter to Brentford from Hull City in the Championship for £16m. Priced at £5.5m in FPL as a Mid.
Lewis-Potter is a 21 yo English primarily an inverted Right Footed LW who started 46 games plus 0 as sub for Hull in the Championship in 21/22. He scored 12 goals plus 3 assists for a G/A every 276 minutes. That seems pretty ordinary considering the step up in difficulty to the Premier League. Gray for Everton was a G/A every 233 minutes, Mac Allister every 301 minutes and Gordon every 325 minutes.
He’s played 4 games for the England U21 side
FPL prospects
Manager Thomas Frank ended the season playing 433 with Wissa on the left Toney CF and Mbeumo RW. Wissa was hugely impressive with a G/A every 140 minutes. He did, however, massively overperform his xG in a completely unsustainable way. Unless Preseason shows something different I would be highly surprised if though if Lewis Potter displaces Wissa for GW1 as I write this given his experience.
Here’s youtube of every goal and assist if you’ve got 6 minutes with nothing to do.
