Fixture amendments announced

Man United’s home match v Liverpool, which was postponed from GW34, will now be played on Thursday 13th May which is inside GW35. This was announced yesterday afternoon.

This means Man Utd have 3 matches in GW35.

They play Villa away on Sunday 9th May and then home to Leicester City on Tuesday 11th May and then home to Liverpool on Thursday the 13th May

However it also means they have no fixture in GW36

The fixture amendments have now been included in the fantasy premier league site and I have included them within this post below.

Firstly here’s how it looks from an attacking and defensive players fixture ease article

Fixture ease for attacking players

For defensive players

The initial thoughts regarding the FFGeek team

First of all I think it’s useful to put players in my team into different categories as below. This is before any transfers are made

So this would mean for GW35 before any transfers I have Fernandes for a triple from category 1 above and 8 from category 2 and 3 players for a double gameweek making 9 in total.

For GW36 before any transfers I have 9 players in category 2 and 4 who have a fixture in GW36.

So my starting position isn’t too bad but I only have the 1 Man Utd player in Fernandes who I now expect will be a huge captain favourite

Here’s how the team looks at present

Transfer thoughts

I have 2 free transfers and £0.1m in the bank

The first thing I have to say is who came up with this ridiculous fixture schedule which sees 3 games in 5 days but then a week with no games for Man Utd.

I have to say that I would be surprised if there will be 1 player who plays all 3 games for Man Utd. Normally you’d rely on the GK playing every game but I can’t even see that happening with De Gea as the reserve. There are a number of attacking options which could accommodate a rotation which would see all the players only playing twice and that also applies to the CF position.

If you believe that and if you then can’t field 11 players in GW36 to some extent the triple isn’t that different to a double or even different to having Son or Kane stay in your team. However it’s difficult to rationalise it like that when all you can hear are the words triple gameweek

For me again Son and Kane are my only funding options for change. With Kane being one of the captain favourites with Salah in GW36 I’m probably going to leave him there

Option 1

Son out to Greenwood in and Veltman out to Maguire in

Given my funding limitations with my team Greenwood is the most sensible transfer in option and the only Man Utd midfielder apart from Fernandes in my player rankings. His underlying stats are good in quality and volume and he could play CF when Cavani is rested.

The issue with this option is that it would mean 11 double and triple players which would mean either benching Harry Kane or one of the doublers (Likely Holding)

This would leave only 7 players plus 1 transfer making 8 for GW36.

Option 2

Son out to Greenwood in and Castagne out to Alexander Arnold in

This would give me 10 triple or doublers and allow me to play Kane without benching a doubler

It would also mean 8 plus 1 transfer for GW36.

It does mean losing Castagne which I really don’t want to do but Leicester have tough fixtures after Newcastle at least.

Final thoughts

So still over 24 hours left for procrastination but at the moment I feel like option 2 is my most likely route

I’ll put my final team up sometime on Friday afternoon as it’s another Friday deadline
