FPL wildcard team GW10 – the FFGeek imaginary wildcard

Fantasy Premier League, imaginary wildcard

Here’s our FPL wildcard team GW10 article where I pretend I’m using my wildcard. This is to give you transfer suggestions for the GW10 with more longevity than just 1 gameweek alone.

Note this article was written before Fridays managers press conferences

The idea of this article is to bring together the other articles of the gameweek.

The article is brief as there’s loads of information on individual players in the rankings articles:

Defender/GK player rankings

Midfield player rankings

Forward player rankings

There’s also:

Bandwagons and sinking ships

You can also see who the 10 top FPL managers I follow each week have in their team. You can also see which players have the best fixtures in our fixture ease article

There’s also who I’m thinking of in my article early FFGeek team thoughts

Structure

A team where everyone can contribute points and selection will be by fixtures.  The selection though does mean that a high value attacker will always be on the bench but given the Man City rotation this may come in more handy than you think.  It is however questionable as the best use of funds.

I’ve tried to pick players who have a minimum projected points level, generally a good fixture next and over the next 6.  Also who have performed at a reasonably consistent level.

Goalkeeper

I’ve gone with Pope for a defensive minded Burnley side, with reasonable fixtures coming up. Reserve is non playing Button who I think with Krul back is the best of the £4.0m GKs

As I mentioned last week with injuries to Lloris and Fabianski and seemingly De Gea as well giving cut price opportunities to £4.4m Gazzaniga and Roberto and £4.8m Romero respectively

Defence

Alexander Arnold is an easy pick given that he is the best attacking defender in the game in the best defensive team.

Soyuncu and Tomori are value picks for good defences in sides with good fixtures. Tomori has improvement as well when Kante and Rudiger are fully fit.

The Sheffield defence is performing well and a very good chance for a clean sheet at home and Lundstram is playing as a CM.

The Man Utd defence is performing well and has a good fixture run.  There aren’t any bargains or any strong attacking options.  I went for Maguire in the end

Midfield

With 2 great fixtures next I’ve gone for the triple Man City midfield with De Bruyne, D Silva and Sterling all of who are projected to score well.

Mount gets the nod next although he needs monitoring having moved back into the midfield 3 of 4-3-3.  How effective he will be in turning the press into goals remains to be seen.

Martal is the gamble based on fixtures and the fact that he will play as a CF.  He got 60 minutes in the Europa League which is ideal preparation.

Forwards

Abraham has been a revelation with fantastic returns and underlying stats.

I’ve kept Pukki.  Overall his stats look good but he has blanked in his last 4 with a tail off of his underlying stats.  However his overall stats keep him in.  Whether he can rebound remains to be seen.

Lastly there’s Haller.  His fixtures are mixed but his underlying stats are good.

No Leicester or Liverpool attack?

After Liverpool play Man City in GW12 looks an ideal return time for Salah or Mane.

I’ve projected Vardy lower than his PPM due to his poor underlying stats this season. That projection makes him poor value for money. However if you went with 2 upfront you could afford him by sacrificing 1 of Pukki or Haller and put £4.5m Connolly in.  That would keep all the returns on the pitch
