FPL wildcard team GW29 – the FFGeek imaginary wildcard

Fantasy Premier League, imaginary wildcard

Here’s our FPL wildcard team GW29 article where I pretend I’m using my wildcard. This is to give you transfer suggestions and player picks for GW29 for the upcoming gameweeks rather than just 1 gameweek alone.

FPL wildcard team GW29 – the FFGeek imaginary wildcard

If you join our Patreon subscription site one of the FFGeek contributors does an imaginary wildcard article every gameweek. This weeks it’s an article by Rick Porter last 3 seasons overall ranks were 1k, 30k and 2k. There’s also loads of other features which you can see at the bottom of this article.

Introduction

The idea of this article is to bring together the other articles of the gameweek.

The article is brief and with no stats as there’s loads of information on individual players in the rankings articles:

Defender/GK player rankings

Midfield player rankings

forward player rankings

There’s also:

You can also see who the 10 top FPL managers I follow each week have in their team.

There’s also the bandwagons and sinking ships article where we look at the most transferred in and out players

Then there’s who the FFGeek readers are transferring in and out as well as our captain poll

A different imaginary wildcard article

Unfortunately the blanks and double gameweeks ahead make it a difficult time for an imaginary wildcard.

Here’s what the landscape looks like in very basics;

GW29 – double gameweek Man City and Arsenal

GW31 – Blank gameweek 4 fixtures only

GW34 – a double gameweek but potentially also some blanks

GW37 – a double gameweek

For my FPL team I have a 2nd wildcard, a free hit and a bench boost. My plan is likely to be GW29 through a free transfer, GW31 a free hit, GW33 wildcard, GW34 bench boost and GW37 through free transfers

Wildcard team 1 –  aiming for the future DGWs

If I was wildcarding this week one way would be to use the free hit for GW31 and then build towards a team of double gameweekers for GW34 and GW37.

The team would look something like this:

FPL wildcard team GW29

the DGW29 players

This is a team which assumes that De Bruyne won’t be fit and  is made up mainly of players with future DGWs but also allows for getting 5 players for DGW29 in an Arsenal contingent of Aubamemeyang, Pepe and Leno.  For Man City there is Mahrez and Aguero.  Both are gambles for gametime but with Burnley in GW30 before the Champions League return leg you could make an assumption that the Burnley  game will see the lions share of rotation.

Aubameyang and Pepe are the only real attacking options for me with Arsenal but neither are particularly cheap.  Leno is just there fore save points.

The future DGW players

In addition to the Man City players Calvert Lewin, Mooy, Barnes, Holgate, Lascelles, Soyuncu, O’Connell and McCarthy should all have doubles in the future.  That’s a good base to build on.

The Others

I find it difficult to conceive of a team without  Salah and Alexander Arnold in it.

The other team with good fixtures who you might want to squeeze into this are Wolves with some combination of Doherty, Jimenez and Jota

Wildcard team 2 – focusing on Blank GW31

With this team you focus on the DGW29 and also the blank GW31.  You’d then probably use your free hit for DGW34 and then focus with frees for DGW37

Here’s what it could look like

Again this assumed De Bruyne was injured.

DGW29 players

Here I had Aubameyang and Leno as before but downgraded Pepe to Saka in order to accommodate Sterling who didn’t start midweek.  Mahrez stays

Blank GW31 players

Effectively these are the rest.

I concentrated on Wolves due to the fixtures so have the double attack of Jimenez and Jota and then  Doherty.

3 Liverpool also made sense so Salah and Alexander Arnold are in but for budget I went for Gomez over Robertson who would have been the preference.

Sarr is there from Watford but the rest in McCarthy, Diop and Cathcart are merely cheap fillers
