More FPL content coming on the FFGeek Patreon site

Contributors, Fantasy Premier League

There’s more FPL content coming on to the FFGeek Patreon site.  Joseph Crilley will manage an FPL team which is driven solely by his transfer planner and points projection tool.  There will also be a FFGeek contributors tracker team to give a collective view of the players in their teams, transfers and captain choices they are making each week.

Joseph Crilleys transfer planner team

As part of the new features available on the FFG Patreon site, I have created an FPL team which I will be running by only using the points projections seen in our transfer planner. I will start the season with the team that returns the highest projected total for the next 5 weeks, then make transfers purely based off the increase in points predicted by our model. The captain and starting XI will also be chosen by the model. I will use the chips as appropriate, with the majority being saved for the doubles later in the season, but for now here is the current GW1 team:

The team is heavy in defence with a strong back 5 as the model is mostly based on points per game from last season which tends to favour defenders. A double up on Liverpool is strongly favoured by the model as even Van Dijk is predicted to score around 6 points more than any other defender in the opening five gameweeks. However, the attacking prowess of TAA and Robertson means they are chosen.

Next in line is Laporte who is chosen to represent the City defence with his security of starts deemed to make him worth the premium.

There is also a double-up from the other side of Merseyside as Everton have strong opening fixtures – Digne and Coleman are a simple choice out of their back 4.  However the imminent sale of Gueye after it seems Zouma won’t return will see me make a negative adjustment to their PPM which will probably see them drop out of the team.  These are the sort of factors that we will adjust for each week in order to keep the model fully reflecting the latest information.

Gunn is a slightly surprising choice in goal, but the opening fixtures are reasonable with goal shy Burnley, Brighton and Sheffield United in the first 5.   He had a decent PPM of 3.9 last year – aside from Alisson (not enough Liverpool slots for him), premium keepers aren’t seen to be worth it by the model.

Sterling and Salah are the premium attackers of choice and it’s interesting to note that they score a fair bit higher than their forward counterparts. Salah is the captain selection for the first three gameweeks so the extra million spent over Mane is utilised on the Egyptian. Zaha is also selected in midfield following his position reclassification giving an improved PPM and is alongside Tielemans who had an impressive PPM of 4.8 during his short time spent in England. When on the pitch, Wilson had some great returns resulting in high projections which make him a favourite with the model in spite of his price hike, so he is given a lone striker role.

The bench isn’t highlighted as key by the model, so bench fodder is used leaving the above team to line up every week (aside from a brief benching for Tielemans in GW2) in an unusual 5-4-1. There may be a couple of changes to this pre-GW1 as we tweak the model, however myself and Geek are very intrigued to see how this team performs in the FFGeek contributors league given its objective nature!

I’ll be updating the team weekly up until the GW1 deadline and then each week on the Patreon site only

The FFGeek contributors tracker team

You all would have seen the weekly FFGeek contributors show their teams articles each week.

I will be running the FFGeek contributors tracker team each week.  It will reflect, collectively, the player make up of the contributor’s teams and the weekly transfers and captain picks.  All transfers will happen on Friday night or Saturday morning so you can get a fully informed position when the contributors give their team to me.  The team will be posted only on the FFGeek Patreon site so you can get an aggregated picture of what the Contributors are doing. It will also be in the FFGeek contributors league.

Here’s the draft at the moment.  It’s a few days old.
