The schedule

The schedule ranks the teams by averaging their Goals against and their expected goals against. It is not adjusted for upcoming fixtures. From the free stats site Fbref

Player values and stats were as of Wednesday 5 January.

Fixture ease ranks the ease of the fixtures in the next 6 gameweeks

CS odds are the bookies odds for a clean sheet given a £1 bet

Pstpnd is the numbers of postponed games which could end up making a double gameweek for the team

xCS% id the % of games where the expected goals against has been less than 1.0

CSs is the number of clean sheets

I have included the provisionally rearranged games into DGW22.

Player suggestions for GW22

Generally for transfer suggestions, as I said above, I’ve tried to balance a good entry point, defensive strength of the team and upcoming fixture easiness. You can see the fixtures on the fixture ease schedule below which again include the provisionally rearranged fixtures

This week if I was going to make a defensive transfer it would probably for me by 1 of the double gameweek teams. As I said above, ideally I’d want a decent defensive team with 2 good fixtures in GW22 and good fixtures thereafter. Unfortunately the options are thin in those 8 teams.

Manchester United

2 good fixtures in the doubles and pretty ok afterwards. The problem with the Man Utd squad is selection and fitness such that as we start and then go forward from GW22 the only back 4 certainty appears to be Varane and he’s expensive at £5.5m for someone with little attacking potential. That leaves the GK in De Gea as my only Man Utd pick. He’s been in great form and isn’t hideously expensive at £5.2m so he would be where I go here

Brighton

Despite an excellent performance v Chelsea away it’s still hard to see a clean sheet in that 2nd game. That’s why again it’s best to go for the GK Sanchez as at least to get save points. There’s also a blank for Brighton in GW24 which means you need a 2nd playing GK or hope that Foster is fit and playing by then if he’s your reserve.

The 2nd game makes me a little reluctant to go for a defender and £4.5m Lamptey would be my choice except the chances of him starting both games seem slim. Given the rotation in the back 3 I’d probably just stump up for £5.1m Cucurella although again a defender isn’t ideal given the tough 2nd fixture

The Fixture Ease Schedule

Here’s the next 6 fixtures as ranked by the ease of the attacking teams they face

This includes the provisional fixture rearrangements for DGW22

GK goals saved over expected goals saved per 90 from Fbref

In essence this shows the form shot stoppers so far this season. It compares the per 90 goals saved vs expected goals saved so is a variation on the save% table I normally give. I think you’ll find it quite interesting.
