The schedule

The schedule ranking is now based on 21/22 stats. The sschedule ranks the teams by averaging their Goals against and their expected goals against. It is not adjusted for upcoming fixtures

Player values and stats were as of Monday 15th November

There’s a stat in the schedule focusing on the Defensive performances so far this season. It’s called “xCS” or expected clean sheets. The stat counts the number of clean sheets that should have happened if a team has an xG against of less than 1.0. You can see these each gameweek in my gameweek analysis posts

The key part of the article is the transfer suggestions for this week where I’ve tried to balance a good entry point, defensive strength of the team and upcoming fixture easiness.

Player suggestions for GW12

Here’s some transfer suggestions for GW12 where, as I said above, I’ve tried to balance a good entry point, defensive strength of the team and upcoming fixture easiness. You can see the fixtures on the fixture ease schedule below

Man City

With 4 assists in his first 11 games Cancelo is the outstanding pick. He’s also started every game and played 90 minutes in 10 of them. He also has a pretty good record of not coming on as sub for those annoying 1 pointers when he doesn’t start. Only once this happened last season in 28 PL appearances.

After that it’s difficult. Dias at £6.1m and Walker at £5.5m offer as much gametime security as you can expect from the Pep defence.

Laporte if he can get his place back offers some attacking potential at £5.5m while Stones is the value pick at £5.3m if he can usurp Laporte as Dias’s CB partner

Ok fixtures with a reasonable entry point but this as much about being the leagues best defence.

Chelsea

Leicester away isn’t a great entry point but such is the attacking potential of £5.9m James and £6.0m Chilwell that clean sheets are only part of what you’re signing up for. James historically has more annoying 1 pointer potential while Chilwell has little. They both have credible understudies so expect rotation

After that you’re looking at £5.9m for the increased gametime security of Rudiger but with little attacking or bonus potential. Christensen is the cheap option but is probably the 4th choice centre back although he has started 8 of 11 games so far this season such is the rotation under Tuchel

Liverpool

Liverpool for me aren’t the 19/20 version that you may have hoped they would be after the return of a full defensive squad for this season.

However they are good enough and such is Alexander Arnold’s attacking potential with a goal and 4 assists this season in his 9 starts that he’s an excellent choice for me

C Palace

It’s quite something how Vieira has improved the attack and the defence in Palace. How sustainable it is is always going to be a question but for now they represent excellent value.

The problem is that there is no real attacking option. They have no goals and 1 assist between the back 4 this season. None either are particularly good bonus collecters.

For that reason I could be persuaded to go with Guaita in goal rather than a defender although his save % stats are pretty ordinary to say the least.

Spurs

They have pretty much been a defensive disaster to date but this is a function of 3 things.

The first is the appointment of Conte who you would expect will fix the defence. The 2nd is the fact that the fixtures are very good. The 3rd is that it looks like he will be playing a back 3 and judging by Reguilon’s very high average position vs Everton he could morph into a decent attacking option

Southampton

An ideal entry point v Norwich for a transfer. For me the best candidate is £4.5m Livramento who has the best attacking potential. Fixtures after that are only ok so for me he would be an FPL asset that you rotated. Need to check on him as an injury doubt

The fixture ease schedule

Here’s a schedule where the teams are ranked by the easiness of the attacking teams they face over the upcoming 6 gameweeks
