The race for promotion to the premier league

Fantasy premier league managers are always looking for bargains in the in their FPL team to be able to afford the premium players such as Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane and Eden Hazard.

Teams newly promoted from the Championship are always a fruitful ground for cheap enablers. You can look at the Championship current table and the odds on free bets to make an assessment as to who’s most likely to be promoted. Here we analyse a few teams and their prospects:

Norwich City

As I write this Norwich are the current league leaders by 2 points. Their position at the top of the league has been fuelled by an incredible run whereby they have only lost twice in the last 22 games. No team has scored more goals than Norwich and although their defence has conceded more goals than any other team in the top 9 they back themselves to outscore their opponents

There’s no doubt who their star performer is. It’s 28 year old Finnish striker Teemu Pukki who’s scored 23 goals and 7 assists in the league to date. He’s been an inspired signing this season from Brondby.

They also have the advantage of a reasonable run in, although as we know in the Championship anyone can beat anyone on a given day.

Sheffield United

Sheffield United haven’t been as free scoring as Norwich but haven’t been so susceptible defensively as them. They too are in great recent form with only 1 loss in their last 12. They’ve been very consistent though this season and haven’t been outside the top 4 since round 4.

They play a back 3 largely in order to accommodate their 2 strikers, Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick and keep a reasonable presence in midfield. They are heavily reliant on these front 2 who have scored 33 of their 59 goals to date. How they get on if they are promoted is a concern as the 2 strikers are 33 and 31 respectively.

The squad was freshened in the January transfer window with 4 arrivals and 5 departures and since the stutter of squandering a 3 goal lead at Villa they have won the last 3

Leeds United

After seemingly being certainties for promotion their has been a recent stutter to Leeds with them losing 5 games in their last 10 culminating in a loss to out of form QPR on Tuesday.

Legendary manager Marcelo Bielsa has done wonders with the side but you can only wonder what impact the whole spygate scandal has had on the team.

Leeds spread their goals around more than the above two sides with the top score being Kamal Roofe with 7 goals.

It remains to be seen if they can get back on track for automatic promotion.
