Rob Reid with his fantasy premier league GW10 player picks

Hi everyone and welcome to Gameweek 10 Player Picks.

You may recall that last season I ran a weekly article where I selected an Ace, Banker and Joker pick each week. This season I’ve slightly changed the format but I’ll be making my picks along similar lines. The Ace will be a form player who I would heavily favour for captain this week. The Banker is a fixture pick and has an eye to the next few gameweeks. The Joker will be a differential pick where the only condition is that they must have less than 10% ownership.

I’ll be keeping an eye on how each player performs each week. After the success of GW1 & 2s Bankers, I’ve decided to go back on my original plan and I’ll now be following the Banker pick for 4 weeks again, like I did last season. I’ll also be running a weekly average on how well the selections perform each week. Finally, there will be Guest Picks again from time to time and I’ll be running some Twitter Polls throughout the season where Fantasy Football Geek readers and Twitter followers will be able to vote on who we’re going to pick in each category – keep an eye out for these as the season goes on and feel free to vote!

Here goes – wish me luck!

Gameweek 10 Picks

Banker – Mathew Ryan (BRI £4.5m) – WOL

The Australian stopper has scored 20 points in the last 2 weeks and with Brighton’s fixture list looking pretty generous until they face Chelsea in GW17 I wouldn’t bet against him racking up plenty more. It’s Wolves at home this week and the visitors will be keen to bounce back after a disappointing reverse at home to Watford in GW9. The Seagulls are a tough nut to crack at the Amex though and I fancy their chances for a 3rd consecutive clean sheet this week, with maybe some save points along the way.

Ace – Mo Salah (LIV £12.8m) – CAR

Are you Mo Salah or No Salah? That’s been the pertinent question these last few weeks in FPL. He’s certainly giving us all headaches, but a big haul could certainly be on the cards against the highly suspect Cardiff defence. His ownership is now perilously close to dropping below that vital 30% mark so he’s almost become a slightly amusing differential pick as a captain. Will he kick on from his goal against Huddersfield last weekend and his double in the UCL on Wednesday and finally rack up that double digit haul we’ve been expecting? I for one am certainly hoping!

Joker (as picked by the Fantasy Football Geek Twitter Community)- Mesut Ozil (ARS £8.4m) – cry

Many thanks to everyone who made suggestions for this week’s Joker pick and to everyone who voted in the Twitter Poll – Ozil was the winner with 39% of the vote. The German midfielder is beginning to look a bit more like the player who racked up 19 assists and 6 goals a few seasons back. He’s got 3 goals, an assist and 7 bonus points in his last 4 starts and with only 5.5% ownership is a great differential. Opponents Palace are struggling through a tough run of fixtures and I suspect the in-form Gunners will have too much for them this weekend, with Ozil a good candidate to fill his boots.

That’s all from me this week folks and good luck!
