Hi everyone and welcome to Gameweek 17 Player Picks.
You may recall that last season I ran a weekly article where I selected an Ace, Banker and Joker pick each week. This season I’ve slightly changed the format but I’ll be making my picks along similar lines. The Ace will be a form player who I would heavily favour for captain this week. The Banker is a fixture pick and has an eye to the next few gameweeks. The Joker will be a differential pick where the only condition is that they must have less than 10% ownership.
I’ll be keeping an eye on how each player performs each week. After the success of GW1 & 2s Bankers, I’ve decided to go back on my original plan and I’ll now be following the Banker pick for 4 weeks again, like I did last season. I’ll also be running a weekly average on how well the selections perform each week. Finally, there will be Guest Picks again from time to time and I’ll be running some Twitter Polls throughout the season where Fantasy Football Geek readers and Twitter followers will be able to vote on who we’re going to pick in each category – keep an eye out for these as the season goes on and feel free to vote!

Sorry there was no Twitter Poll again this week folks – I’ve been snowed under with other commitments. It will return in GW18!
Banker – Eden Hazard – (CHE 10.9m) – bri
The diminutive Belgian playmaker has been a popular FPL sale over the last few weeks in order to fund highly priced striking options, but I reckon it could be a good time to buy him back. He’s got 4 assists in the last 3 gameweeks and now embarks on a nice run of festive fixtures until Chelsea go to the Emirates in GW23. Provided he stays injury free, I suspect he’ll rack up plenty of minutes through this period – his 89th minute substitution versus City last week were the first EPL minutes he’s missed since GW11. And if the minutes come, I expect the returns will too!
Ace – Mo Salah – (LIV 13.0m) – MAN
Mo seems to be finally catching up with his amazing xG stats and he cashed in big time against Bournemouth last weekend with a hat-trick and 21 points. He followed this up with a crucial UCL winner in midweek and I fancy his chances against a floundering United defence on Sunday. It’s going to be a behind the sofa game for non-owners I reckon, particularly those of us (myself included) who massively regret selling him last week!
Joker – Robert Snodgrass (WHM 5.3m) – ful
It’s been a productive couple of weeks for the Scottish midfielder with 24 points and returns in each of the the last 3 gameweeks (1 goal and 3 assists.) Up next is a London derby against the porous Cottager’s defence and the Hammers will fancy their chances of adding a few more to the 9 goals they’ve scored in the last 3 weeks. With his set-piece involvement and the Hammers fixtures still set fair for the near future, 1.1% owned Snoddy could be a nice budget-friendly pick moving forward.
