Rob Reid with his fantasy premier league GW25 player picks

Hi everyone and welcome to Gameweek 25 Player Picks.

You may recall that last season I ran a weekly article where I selected an Ace, Banker and Joker pick each week. This season I’ve slightly changed the format but I’ll be making my picks along similar lines. The Ace will be a form player who I would heavily favour for captain this week. The Banker is a fixture pick and has an eye to the next few gameweeks. The Joker will be a differential pick where the only condition is that they must have less than 10% ownership.

I’ll be keeping an eye on how each player performs each week. After the success of GW1 & 2s Bankers, I’ve decided to go back on my original plan and I’ll now be following the Banker pick for 4 weeks again, like I did last season. I’ll also be running a weekly average on how well the selections perform each week. Finally, there will be Guest Picks again from time to time and I’ll be running some Twitter Polls throughout the season where Fantasy Football Geek readers and Twitter followers will be able to vote on who we’re going to pick in each category – keep an eye out for these as the season goes on and feel free to vote!

Here goes – wish me luck!

Gameweek 25 Picks

Banker – Raul Jimenez (WOL 6.5m) – eve

Wolves may have been a bit inconsistent of late, but it’s hard to ignore the fact that they currently lead the race to be ‘the best of the rest’ in 7th place. They’ve certainly found their goal touch in the last couple of weeks and Raul Jimenez is the figurehead for this. His 2 goals against West Ham in midweek brought his tally to 8 goals, 7 assists and 17 bonus points so far this season and with his side currently in a favourable run of fixtures he’s becoming a hard player to ignore, especially with such a favourable price tag.

Next up it’s a visit to Goodison Park and this shouldn’t hold any fear for a Wolves team that have already won at Spurs and held Man City, Man Utd and Arsenal this season.

Ace – Sergio Aguero (MCI 11.3m) – ARS/eve

It’s probably no surprise that in a double gameweek, both my Ace and Joker picks this week come from one of the teams with 2 fixtures. Let’s start with our Ace Aguero. You can tell it’s been a strange season when a player with 11 goals and 8 assists playing for one of the top teams hasn’t been at the forefront of our squads over the last few weeks. Granted, there was a bit of a fire sale after his injury at the back end of last year and yes his minutes do get managed in the usual game of Pep Rotation Roulette.

But reading between the lines, he’s started 18 of his 20 league appearances this season, has only failed to make it beyond 60 minutes once and well, put simply, he’s Sergio Aguero. He’s certainly a great pick for the double this week and with City facing two less than convincing defences he’s also tempting for that Triple Captain Chip. Who dares wins?

Joker – Kevin De Bruyne (MCI 9.7m) – ARS/eve

Sneaking under the radar for this week’s double with only 4.3% ownership is the Belgian playmaker who’s racked up 14 goals and 39 assists over the last 2 seasons. Injury has curtailed his involvement to 3 starts and 5 sub appearances in 2018-19 so far with 2 of those starts coming in the last 2 games. But if he gets some gametime, he’s bound to start picking up returns especially with his set piece duties. Not got Sane or Sterling and looking for a midfield differential this week? KDB could be just your man!

That’s all from me this week on Player Picks, best of luck for this week everyone!
