Hi everyone and welcome to Gameweek 26 Player Picks.

You may recall that last season I ran a weekly article where I selected an Ace, Banker and Joker pick each week. This season I’ve slightly changed the format but I’ll be making my picks along similar lines. The Ace will be a form player who I would heavily favour for captain this week. The Banker is a fixture pick and has an eye to the next few gameweeks. The Joker will be a differential pick where the only condition is that they must have less than 10% ownership.

I’ll be keeping an eye on how each player performs each week. After the success of GW1 & 2s Bankers, I’ve decided to go back on my original plan and I’ll now be following the Banker pick for 4 weeks again, like I did last season. I’ll also be running a weekly average on how well the selections perform each week. Finally, there will be Guest Picks again from time to time and I’ll be running some Twitter Polls throughout the season where Fantasy Football Geek readers and Twitter followers will be able to vote on who we’re going to pick in each category – keep an eye out for these as the season goes on and feel free to vote!

Here goes – wish me luck!

Gameweek 26 Picks

Banker – Alexandre Lacazette (ARS £9.3m) – hud

It’s a plum fixture for Arsenal this weekend and with Aubameyang a major doubt with illness, the stage is set for Lacazette. He’s started the last 5 games, scoring 3 goals and will fancy his chances against the league’s bottom side. Reality is certainly biting for The Terriers, a 5-0 thrashing at Stamford Bridge being the latest disaster in a run that’s only seen them take 2 points from the last 8 matches. The GW16 game between these two may have only ended in a narrow 1-0 win for The Gunners, but you’ve got to fancy them for some goals here as they start on a nice fixture clump which sees home fixtures against Southampton and Bournemouth following on from their visit to Yorkshire.

Ace (as voted by the FFG Twitter Community) – Mo Salah (LIV £13.6m) – BOU

Many thanks to the 459 of you who voted in this week’s Twitter Poll, Mo Salah was the winner with 44% of the vote. He may have come off the back of 2 blanks, but in the reverse fixture at the end of last year he certainly put The Cherries to the sword with a hat-trick and a bumper 21 point haul. Things are perhaps a little different now – Liverpool have stuttered a bit in recent weeks and Bournemouth thumped Chelsea in GW24 before inexplicably losing away at Cardiff last week. So basically anything could happen! Don’t be surprised if Liverpool smash 5 passed one of the leakiest defences in the league but also don’t be surprised if it’s a stuffy low scoring draw. Either way, Salah is going to be heavily fancied as captain this week and if it’s a repeat of his antics at The Vitality, it’ll be a ranking killer if you’ve not handed him the armband.

Joker – Joao Moutinho (WOL £5.3m) – NEW

Wolves look simply irresistible at the moment, with 3 wins on the bounce scoring 10 goals in the process. A catalyst for this has been the recent form of Moutinho who has assisted 5 of these 10 goals, and racked up 5 bonus points in the process. Monday’s visitors Newcastle can be a stubborn side to take on as Man City found out a couple of weeks back, but I suspect they’ll struggle at Molyneux and the Portuguese international will certainly be keen to add to his recent returns. The only question mark is how Wolves will be affected by their close FA Cup game in midweek, but with the fixture on Monday this should give them plenty of time to recover.

That’s all from me this week on Player Picks, best of luck for this week everyone!
