Hi everyone and welcome to Gameweek 27 Player Picks.

You may recall that last season I ran a weekly article where I selected an Ace, Banker and Joker pick each week. This season I’ve slightly changed the format but I’ll be making my picks along similar lines. The Ace will be a form player who I would heavily favour for captain this week. The Banker is a fixture pick and has an eye to the next few gameweeks. The Joker will be a differential pick where the only condition is that they must have less than 10% ownership.

I’ll be keeping an eye on how each player performs each week. After the success of GW1 & 2s Bankers, I’ve decided to go back on my original plan and I’ll now be following the Banker pick for 4 weeks again, like I did last season. I’ll also be running a weekly average on how well the selections perform each week. Finally, there will be Guest Picks again from time to time and I’ll be running some Twitter Polls throughout the season where Fantasy Football Geek readers and Twitter followers will be able to vote on who we’re going to pick in each category – keep an eye out for these as the season goes on and feel free to vote!

Here goes – wish me luck!

Gameweek 27 Picks

Banker – Ricardo Pereira (LEI £5.3m) – CRY –

For managers looking to build a squad for the blanks in GWs 31 & 33, I would suggest you put Ricardo’s name at the top of your list. He has fixtures in both, part of a fantastic fixture run that Leicester have until they finish the season with 3 stinkers against Arsenal, City and Chelsea. Add to this his attacking returns from full-back – 2 goals and 6 assists so far this season and for me, he’s an ideal player for anyone on a strategy that necessitates filling up with GW31 and 33 assets. Palace at home this week is potentially a tricky fixture as The Eagles have proved rather tough on the road of late, winning away at City and pushing all the way at Anfield. You’d have to favour the home team in this one though and with Brighton, Watford and Fulham following next it looks a good time to invest in The Foxes.

Ace – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – (ARS £11.1m) SOU

It’s been a disappointing couple of weeks for Aubameyang owners. A blank away to City in GW25 and a sick note against Huddersfield in GW26 in comparison to big hauls from closely priced rivals such as Aguero. GW27 is a chance though for managers to gain back some lost ground with Southampton visiting The Emirates. The Saints have lost every league meeting they’ve had at The Emirates and their current form doesn’t inspire anything other than continuing that trend, despite turning The Gunners over 3-2 in the reverse fixture in December. Aubameyang still leads the way for FPL points in the striker category with 15 goals and 6 assists and he’ll like his chances of adding to his tally this weekend.

Joker – Fabian Schar (NEW £4.6) – HUD

I suspect this may start to become a weekly thing where one of my picks faces the league’s bottom side, but with Huddersfield so far adrift it’s just too tempting to overlook. It’s Newcastle’s turn to host The Terriers this week and although they are hardly in great shakes themselves, you’d have to fancy them to at the very least keep a clean sheet. As such, I’ve gone for a defender in Fabian Schar, a player who has also scored twice and provided 1 assist in the last 4 weeks. Will he be able to further add to his tally against his Championship-bound opponents? 1.3% of FPL managers will certainly be hoping so.

That’s all from me this week on Player Picks, best of luck for this week everyone!
