Rob Reid with his fantasy premier league GW4 player picks
Hi everyone and welcome to Gameweek 4 Player Picks.
You may recall that last season I ran a weekly article where I selected an Ace, Banker and Joker pick each week. This season I’ve slightly changed the format but I’ll be making my picks along similar lines. The Ace will be a form player who I would heavily favour for captain this week. The Banker is a fixture pick and has an eye to the next few gameweeks. The Joker will be a differential pick where the only condition is that they must have less than 10% ownership.
I’ll be keeping an eye on how each player performs each week. After the success of GW1 & 2s Bankers, I’ve decided to go back on my original plan and I’ll now be following the Banker pick for 4 weeks again, like I did last season. I’ll also be running a weekly average on how well the selections perform each week. Finally, there will be Guest Picks again from time to time and I’ll be running some Twitter Polls throughout the season where Fantasy Football Geek readers and Twitter followers will be able to vote on who we’re going to pick in each category – keep an eye out for these as the season goes on and feel free to vote!
Here goes – wish me luck!

Banker (Picked by the FFG Twitter Community) – Eden Hazard (10.6m CHE) – BOU
A big thank you to the 563 of you who voted for our GW4 Banker. Eden Hazard was a clear winner with 49%; voters were clearly impressed with his performance against Newcastle last weekend. He’s a proven FPL points scorer and although his form can sometimes wax and wane, 3 nice fixtures are on the horizon before The Blues host Liverpool in GW7. Despite his manager’s comments last weekend, he is clearly capable of lasting 90 minutes. Couple this with his set-piece duties and I’m sure we’ll see his near 15% ownership continue to rise, despite his hefty price-tag.
Ace – Sergio Aguero (11.3m MCI) – NEW
Our GW1 Banker is also my Ace pick this week as City face Newcastle, a team who Kun just loves to play against. He’s got 8 goals in The Magpies last 2 EPL visits to The Ethiad and despite a surprising blank last weekend, the Argentine will fancy his chances of a big haul once more. With nearly 50% ownership, he’s a dangerous individual not to own so beware if you’re not captaining him this weekend. And my advice if you don’t have him in your squad at all? Find a giant sofa to hide behind!
Joker – Aaron Ramsey (7.4m ARS) – car
It’s been a shaky start to the season from The Gunners. Defensively they are a mess and I suspect this could be the week the Cardiff open their 2017-18 goal-scoring account. They are however making chances going forward. Ramsey may only have 4 points from the first 3 fixtures, but he took up a more advanced position against West Ham last week and he’ll be relishing going back to the club where he started his career. At only 1.1% ownership, he’s a great differential and with the fixtures set fair until Arsenal face Liverpool in GW11, he could be a nice ‘under the radar’ pick going forward.
That’s all from me this week folks and good luck!
