Rob Reid with his fantasy premier league GW7 player picks

Hi everyone and welcome to Gameweek 7 Player Picks.

You may recall that last season I ran a weekly article where I selected an Ace, Banker and Joker pick each week. This season I’ve slightly changed the format but I’ll be making my picks along similar lines. The Ace will be a form player who I would heavily favour for captain this week. The Banker is a fixture pick and has an eye to the next few gameweeks. The Joker will be a differential pick where the only condition is that they must have less than 10% ownership.

I’ll be keeping an eye on how each player performs each week. After the success of GW1 & 2s Bankers, I’ve decided to go back on my original plan and I’ll now be following the Banker pick for 4 weeks again, like I did last season. I’ll also be running a weekly average on how well the selections perform each week. Finally, there will be Guest Picks again from time to time and I’ll be running some Twitter Polls throughout the season where Fantasy Football Geek readers and Twitter followers will be able to vote on who we’re going to pick in each category – keep an eye out for these as the season goes on and feel free to vote!

Here goes – wish me luck!

Gameweek 7 Picks

Banker – Rui Patricio (£4.5m WOL) – SOU

Many thanks to the 288 of you who voted in this week’s Twitter Poll – Rui Patricio was your pick of the goalkeepers for this week’s Banker. He starts his 4 fixture stint with a home match versus Southampton and this is followed by 3 more nice fixtures before Wolves face Spurs and Arsenal in GWs 11 & 12. They are perhaps unlucky only to have 2 clean sheets in the first 6 weeks, but will fancy their chances of adding to these over the next few games. Patricio will certainly need on form if this is to be the case.

Ace – Sergio Aguero (£11.4m MCI) – BRI

Ok, I know this is getting a bit repetitive but it’s very difficult to see passed the Argentine again this week. He’s the highest owned player in the game, has 4 returns in 6 so far and faces a team that are hardly renowned for their Premier League away form. And with his gametime likely secure after being rested for the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, it will be a brave FPL manager who doesn’t captain him, let alone own him this week.

Joker – Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m EVE) – FUL

Iceland’s talismanic midfielder hasn’t exactly set Goodison Park on fire since his big money move from Swansea last year, but he’s still a dangerous player on his day. His set-piece delivery always has potential to provide points and he’s up against a Fulham defence still to register a clean sheet. Could he reward the 1.3% of mangers who own him this week with a big haul?

That’s all from me this week folks and good luck!
