Sky Sports Fantasy Football – my first draft team

Sky Sports FF

Here’s my first go at a Sky Sports Fantasy Football Team.  I didn’t do a team at the same time I was  telling everyone the Sky Sports Fantasy Football site  is open so this will rectify that.   Its still a very quick one just to give everyone some food for thought

Firstly the new 2 captains in 1 game week  rule ie you could put a captain  on Saturday and 1 on Sunday means having a Europa League team as a captain option is advantageous as they will probably play later in the week .  You therefore have  a reliable Sunday or Monday option.  I’ll see if I can do more resasrch on this but for the moment thats the strategy.  Im going for Spurs as a better option than Swansea as they have good fixtures to start and have what I am envisaging a good captain option in Soldado.  He’s not included in the Sky Sports Fantasy Football team rosters at the moment so I will have to redraft fror that.  I’m also assuming Bale will join Madrid which means he isnt included in the team.

Here’s the team.  I’ve gone for 3-5-2 by the way.

GK Simon Mignolet Liverpool £4.9m

With Reina gone suddenly Mignolet looks great value.  Last year Liverpool had 16 clean sheets 2nd only to Man City and at £4.9m looks really good value.  Liverpool also have good fixtures to start

Def  Bacary Sagna Arsenal £6.7m

As there are negative points for goals conceded I’ve gone for the top tier teams with the cheapest defender but trying to still look for gametime security.   Bacary Sagna will start virtually all Arsenals fantasy premier league games and is the best value Arsenal defender.

Def:  Cesar Azpilicueta Chelsea £6.8m

Same principle as Sagna except without the game time security and the possibility of missing gameweek 1 as Spain are in Ecudar on the Wednesday.  Unfortunately much better value than the rest of the defence so its a risk required in my view

Def:  Danny Rose Spurs £4.7m

A big gamble here.  However I think Danny Roses season was so strong on loan to Sunderland and BAE’s ended so ordinarily that there is a real prospect Rose will take his place at LB

Midfield:  Eden Hazard Chelsea £8.8m (CAPTAIN)

Probably the most nailed on attacking starter in the Chelsea team given the playing risk with Mata due to the Spain game and the difficulty of predicting selection else where.  Would be the natural captain

Midfield:  Theo Walcott Arsenal £8.5m

Tricky one between Walcott and Cazorla especially as Cazorla can pick up passing bonus points.  At the moment I’ve gone for Walcott as I think he will score more goals and get more Man of the Match awards.  Arteta is another option for the passing and tackle bonus  reason plus Arteta takes pens

Midfield:  David Silva Man City £8.4m

With Aguero injured  and no clear feel for who  Pellegrini  plays as a striker then Silva is a good option.  Didn’t get the returns his underlying stats deserved last year and a more attacking approach and fantastic opening fixtures make him a good bet to return to his old form

Midfield:  Lucas Leiva Liverpool £5.5m

Last year the Sky Fantasy Football administrators didnt recognose what the passing and tackling returns could get to pllayer  and players like Lucas were undervalued.  This seems on the face of it to be rectified with prices for players like Schneiderlin vastly increased.  However those that had limited gametime last year for whatever reason (such as injury to Lucas)  still seem to be a reasonable price.  Lucas is one of the best in the tackle and pass bonus area and is still good value despite a hike.

Midfield:  Cabral Sunderland £4.1m

Here’s another gamble.  Cabral has joined Sunderland as a CDM and looks like he will pick up tackle points and maybe some passing points.

Forward:  RVP Man Utd £10.0m

I cant ignore him.  Just too good a captain option after a hugely consistent year last season.  If Bale goes that also takes some monetary pressure off our squads

Forward: Cornelius  Cardiff £6.6m

A good goals scoring record and an attractive price makes him a good punt for the 2nd striker

Thats it then.  Hope it gives you some though when creating your teams.  In the week leading up to kick off you’ll get a detailed review of all the best players in Sky Sports fantasy football in each position
