Sun Dream Team – “ones to watch” forwards for transfer window 1

Sun Dream Team

Here’s my pick of the Sun Dream Team forwards  for your transfer window 1 decisions.

I’ve given you the following information to assist you in the decision:

1.  The additional European competition

2.  Sun Dream Team cost

3.  The points in Sun Dream Team to date

4.  The amount of 7+ ratings compared to games

5.  The amount of Sun Dream Team Star Man awards

6.  The fixture ease ranking from my recent Sun Dream Team fixture article (link at bottom of page)

RVP -Champions league

  • cost:  £8.0m.  Points:  17.    7+Star man rating.  1/3.     Star man awards:  1     fixture ranking:  3

Its been a fairly slow start so far for last years top forward but out of 3 games he was playing Chelsea and Liverpool in 2.  Still getting chances and fairly rotation proof given the pressure on Moyes to perform.  Good fixtures and hopefully Rooney will be back as expected for the 22nd September soon as the creator.

Giroud – Champions league

  • cost:  £4.0m.  Points:  32.    7+Star man rating.  2/5.     Star man awards:  1     fixture ranking:  4

The only real striking option at the club now unless you count Walcott as an option.  Therefore virtually guaranteed to start for such juicy fixtures as home to Stoke and Norwich and away to Palace in the Premier League.  Tough champions league draw only negative.  Will get loads of chances with Ozil, Cazorla and Walcott behind him.  Not really liked by the Sun Dream team rating people but that wont matter as long as the goals go in.

Sturridge (injury doubt)

  • cost:  £5.0m.  Points:  42.    7+Star man rating. 4/4.     Star man awards:  1     fixture ranking:  8

Has an injury doubt going into GW4 and also doesn’t have the additional games.  Also has the complication of Suarez returning although there are early unconfirmed stories that Suarez would move to the flank.  Very popular with the Sun Dream Team raters.  No European competition this year plus a difficult Capital One Cup draw away to Manchester United are countered by excellent league fixtures including home games against  Southampton, Palace, WBA and Fulham.

Negredo – Champions league

  • cost:  £6.0m.  Points:  13.    7+Star man rating. 1/3.     Star man awards:  0     fixture ranking:  6

A gamble in that he hasn’t started a game yet and is expensive but should hold his place as the most forward striker in a very attack minded team.  Good champions league group.  Has Bayern but CSKA and Plzen are good teams to have in your group considering City’s seeding. Premier league fixtures aren’t easy though and only great fixture is home to Norwich

Benteke

  • cost:  £5.5m.  Points:  24.    7+Star man rating. 3/4.     Star man awards:  0     fixture ranking:  12

Quality player who will definitely play every game.  Seems to be popular  with Sun Dream Team raters and with easier fixtures should pick up Star man awards.  Fixtures are mixed, Newcastle and Cardiff are at home but so are Man City and Spurs.  Capital One cup game is home to Spurs as well.

Soldado – Europa league

  • cost:  £4.5m.  Points:  28.    7+Star man rating. 3/4.     Star man awards:  0     fixture ranking:  1

The first choice central striker in a team that now has a real creative force in new signing Christian Eriksen.  Also has pen duties and should score a good amount of goals.  The problem will be the rotation of Defoe in the Europa League.  Last year AVB didn’t rotate much for the Europa League but it seems likely to me that with the pressure for a top 4 place and a big squad then rotation will be far greater.  A definite gametime risk but good value for a team that demands coverage.

Lukaku

  • cost:  £4.0m.  Points: .    7+Star man rating.     Star man awards:  0     fixture ranking:  13

Will miss the first game home to Chelsea due to the loan agreement but was a sensation at WBA last year.  Hard to see him not being the main man after the misfiring attempts of Jelavic and Kone.  Good value as well.  Fixtures are mixed though   Newcastle and Hull at home plus Palace away are good fixtures in the premier league but also play Chelsea (Lukaku can’t play this game)  Spurs and Man City.  Capital One is away to Fulham

Bony – Europa league

  • cost:  £3.5m.  Points: 13    7+Star man rating 1/4.     Star man awards:  0     fixture ranking:  2

Swansea in the Europa League demand coverage and its a difficult choice due to the umber of additions Laudrup has made to the squad to allow rotation.  One thing is for sure though Laudrup will want to win the Europa league and defend their Capital One cup title.  Bony has got off to a slow start and has struggled for game time but you cannot ignore the guys record in Holland which was phenomenal  and the fact that he will be the most advanced striker when he inevitably starts.  Michu should play behind him.  That’s why I’m backing him over Michu.

Eto’o – Champions league £5.0m

Should be the main striker and good value even if rotated

That’s the forwards done.  Still a few Sun Dream Team articles to come today
