Sun Dream Team – the FFGeek teams update and looking ahead to the rest of February

Sun Dream Team

With the FA Cup this weekend and the European competitions in full swing I thought it was worth a bit of an update on the Sun Dream Team  FFGeek teams and also a look forward to see if there are any opportunities with the 2 competitions ahead

Sun Dream Team – the FFGeek teams update and looking ahead to the rest of February

Team 1

Team points:  1,724  Overall Rank:  37,100  Team value £63.4m  Feb transfers:  2 left

The problem with Sun Dream Team is the fairly significant price rises make it difficult to get some key  players if you don’t get them early.  That means if you’re chasing you have to take risks on other cheaper players and hope they perform.  If you didn’t have Kane or Salah by now then how you would get them into your team I don’t know.  You may have seen my recent article on players if you’re chasing

A mixed bunch above in team 1.  Aside from the obvious of Salah, Kane and Aguero, the cheaper gambles in Bernardo and Mkhitaryan have been successful for the attacking players while Sanchez has flopped.  In defence aside from Christensen and Pickford the defence has performed reasonably well.

Still,  making progress has been difficult and I am plateauing at my current rank and can quite easily see me finishing up here.

I have 2 transfers still and will be looking to use them, maybe this week.

Team 2

Team points:  1,715  Overall Rank:  40,678  Team value £66.9m  Feb transfers:  0 left

No transfers left for this month so the team is what it is unfortunately. All the attackers apart from Lukaku have performed well.  In defence Gomez and Pickford have been the disappointments.

A look ahead

The rest of February looks interesting and a chance to make some progress.  However the tricky thing with Sun Dream Team is that once the team your player is in has played in the Friday to Friday week then he can not be transferred out.  That means, depending on who you are looking to transfer in, you may need to gamble on the FA Cup teamsheets if you’re looking to see them play in the FA Cup, European competitions and the PL games. However if you have players that aren’t in the FA Cup.  Arsenal and Liverpool being the obvious examples but also Bournemouth, Burnley, Everton, Palace, Watford, Newcastle and West Ham you will be able to hold these players until at least the first FA Cup game of the day.

Here’s the fixtures from the Sun Dream Team site:

Chelsea

Chelsea are in a good position in that they play tonight so you can see the team sheet to make a decision about a transfer.  The disadvantage is the Champions League tie against Barcelona.  I don’t think £8.3m Mid Hazard will play tonight but for me he’s a great buy and I would get him if you can afford him even with the fixtures.  I’m not sure given the Barca fixtures I would go for a defender but the £4m striker Morata is at a great price.  Again I don’t think he will start though.  I think he will be saved for Barca.  Other than that it’s difficult.  I’m not sure the defence is worth it given the upcoming fixtures.  If you really wanted to roll the dice £4.3m Mid Willian has performed well when on the pitch but he is a big gametime risk.

Arsenal

With Arsenal not playing until Thursday and it being a dead rubber picking the team sheet is a difficult one.  It’s added to by the fact that the next 2 games are against Man City so I would rule out a defender.  If you have a player not in the FA Cup then you would be able to hold until the team sheet on Thursday.   £2.9m Mid Mkhitaryan is excellent value at £2.9m and should play given his lack of minutes this season.

£5.2m Striker Aubameyang is ineligible for the Europa League bu good value further down the line.  I also think £4.8m Ramsey is good value at £4.8m but I doubt he will play in the Europa next

Leicester

Leicester play tonight which gives you the chance to see the team sheet before making a transfer.  They obviously aren’t in European competition but do have a nice run of PL fixtures.  I do think the players are over priced but if you’re willing to accept that then the main focus for me would be on £6.3m Mid Mahrez, £5.0m Striker Vardy and £4m Defender Maguire.  If you’re looking for an uber cheap defender there’s Simpson at £0.9m

Manchester City

The main Sun Dream Team successes of £9.1m Aguero, £8.9m De Bruyne, £7.2m Sterling and £6.0m Otamendi are all priced very high and possibly due some rotation unless Pep is just going to keep them playing until the title is won.  So I’m going to look elsewhere.

Rotation is always an issue for Man City but the fact they are in so many competitions certainly helps even things out.

I think striker Jesus at £3.8m when he’s back starting is a fantastic price.  Unfortunately the Man City FA Cup match is on Monday so late in the gameweek but the team sheet will be available before transfers close.

Mid Sane is also just coming back and also looks goof value at £5.4m.  Bernardo and Gundogan at £3.8m and £3.9m respectively will be pushed aside with Sane and D Silva coming back but again such is the number of games that they will still get minutes and they are both a great price.

Sane is also close to being back and at £5.4m is good value.

Spurs

Spurs have Rochdale in the FA Cup on the Sunday and the team sheet will be available.  There’s no way Kane will be playing but if any of £4.5m Alli, £5.3m Son or £5.8m Eriksen start or £5.4m Vertonghen or £4.2m Alderweireld  then they will be worth a punt given their European position and a good run of PL fixtures.  I think they all apart from maybe Son and Alli over priced but given the FA Cup fixtures and a nice run could be worth a gamble.

FFGeek team 1 transfers

I have 2 transfers available for that team but none for team 2.

I’m not sure just at the moment.  Sanchez and maybe Christensen if he doesn’t play v Hull are the likely players in the frame.  Hazard appeals but no defender jumps out unless I want to raise cash by selling someone for Simpson.
