Sun Dream Team tips – FFGeek 2nd draft team

Sun Dream Team

sun201516

The departure of West Ham from the Europa League plus pre-season giving us a few more clues over lineup of teams has lead to wholesale changes of our team.  We outline the changes and the reasoning plus how the team will change in the first transfer window as things stand.

Sun Dream Team tips – FFGeek 2nd draft team

A bit of context

Man Utd and Southampton have extra games up to the first transfer window in the 1st to 12 September.

Man Utd have 2 play off games on the 18/19th and 25/26th August before transfer window 1 giving them 2 extra games

Southampton are in to the Playoff games which are on the 20th and 27th of August and count towards Sun Dream Team giving them 2 extra games.

The changes

Here’s our original team:

Here’s the changes:

£2m West Ham GK Adrian out for Southampton £2.0m GK Stekelenberg

With West Ham out of the Europa League then there’s no benefit to having anyone from West Ham in the team.  GKs don’t really return that well in Sun Dream Team so I’ve gone for the cheapest option payable of the European Clubs.  Thats easily Stekelenberg.  He also has the additional 2 games.  It does come with the risk that once the season starts Koeman may play  Davis or Gazzaniga in the Europa League but he may not want to take any chances for the play off game first

£5.5m Arsenal defender Koscielny out for £2.5m Arsenal defender Bellerin

Bellerin should hold first choice at the RB position but he does have Debuchy and Chambers as competition so that price comes with a downside.  However £3m is a huge saving and I’m seeing that as being worth it

£3.5m Southampton defender Fonte out for £2.0m Southampton defender Soares

Again same team just getting more value out of the defence.  Soares looks an excellent attacking option at RB.  He is like Bellerin more replaceable in the squad than Fonte but that gives you an additional £1.5m to play with

£6.5m Man City mid Silva out for £5.5m Arsenal midfielder Ozil

Silva is the last person I would want to use but ultimately I want a spread of all the top teams so I’ve gone for Ozil on the basis that Man City can be represented with Aguero when he’s fit.  I’ve chosen Ozil as my Arsenal representation for the new assist points and also for the central attacking involvement he brings to the team which is bound to help the bonus points

£2.5m West Ham striker Sakho out for £3.0m Southampton mid Mane

No point in Sakho after his exit from the Europa League.  Like Man Utd I’ve doubled up on the Southampton attacking players for the first phase of Sun Dream Team. I haven’t ruled out Tadic as an option either as he has more assist potential.  Mane to me looks like the more explosive though.

So after that here’s the new team with believe it or not £6.0m in the bank??

In the first transfer window there’s 3 transfers between the 1st and the 12th of September (plus there’s an emergency transfer).

The plan at the moment is to make the following transfers:

£4.0m Man Utd midfielder Depay out and £4.0m Liverpool mid Firmino in

This is just a spreading of the risk between teams and may not be necesaasry.  Firmino to me should be the most attacking of the Liverpool midfielders.

£3.0m Southampton mid Mane  out for £5.0m striker Kane

Kane is pretty essential for my mind and it’s only the extra games of others that keep him out of the side

£3.0m Southampton forward Pelle out for £7.0m striker Aguero

The most important member of the game Aguero is essential.  Means no Southampton attacking coverage unfortunately which isn’t ideal.  However the Mane/Depay/Firmino position gives some flexibility

Those transfers would mean the team would look like that with 1 emergency transfer unused
