Sun Dream Team tips – 4 FFGeek contributors show their teams for gameweek 4

Michael Byrom

Michael was joint winner of Sun Dream Team in 2016/17. He also finished top 300 in 18/19 and top 1k in 2017/18

 Gw3 pts : 36  Total pts : 158  Overall Rank : 163k

Very disappointing return from GW3 with just 36pts earned .

My transfers didn’t pay off for a start as Rashford missing his pen meant -3 and as I predicted on here last week the player I dumped Jamie Vardy punished me with a goal at Bramall Lane , so a swing of 11pts there not in my favour.

Clean sheets are proving very hard to come by at the moment with Pool and City both leaking goals , hoping that changes this weekend.

Decided against using my final transfer this weekend, was contemplating replacing Dan James with Mason Mount but as he’s an injury doubt I’m not willing to take the risk , won’t be able to make the move if he does get passed fit on Friday as I only have 0.4 funds available and with Mount certain to increase again will unfortunately leave me short by 0.1 .

Another move that did cross my mind was bringing in Aguero for Kane but again resisting the temptation and instead willing to save the transfer until Friday week .

Here’s hoping for an improvement in GW4 , good luck all .

Lee Giles

Lee finished an incredible 79th overall in Sun Dream Team in his first attempt last season

Overall rank – 20k.   GW points 63.   Total points 186.

A much better week this week as I make it to the 20k mark from last weeks 159k. I had 4 players that hit a decent points haul Salah, Digne, Sterling and Mount with a few others chipping in with points. The biggest disappointment was Kane who failed to pick up any points at home to Newcastle. I’m tempted to transfer out Kane this week who has a tricky tie against Arsenal and bring in Aguero who has a plum fixture at home to Brighton. That would leave me with 1 transfer for after the international break just in case I pick up any injuries.

Kane ♻️ Aguero

Red Rum

Redrum has finished the last 3 seasons in Sun Dream team in 5k, 750th, 250th

Overall rank 199k, total points 153

The team did well this week with a score of 55 points. I always aim to get around 50 points per single game week (not counting league cup games). So I went through with last week transfers as discussed. I did them on Thursday night so gained some team value which might be important in the future. So out went Gomez for Walker (gained 0.1m) and also Pulisic for Emerson (gained 0.2m) and now with other price changes included the team value is 50.8m. Team value has less of an impact in recent years since 0.1m price change per week (I do miss the bigger price changes) but it can be important to have a decent team value as it broadens the range of player selection. Anyways, let’s see how the players performed in game week 3.

GK

So Ederson got booked and failed to keep a clean sheet. He was beaten by an absolute world class free kick (more on that later). He played well with a series of good saves so points gained. I am quite happy with my goalkeeper even though he is on the expensive side and maybe don’t meet the criteria of value per million but I tend to like to overspend on my goalkeeper and strikers and find value in defence and midfield.

Defence

So coming onto the defence, I did ok this week with good returns particularly from Emerson and TAA. Emerson gained the star man award and looks to have great attacking potential for the future even through at present clean sheets are lacking. Hopefully the return of Rudiger and Kante will make a difference. TAA had a very good game with an assist from a corner. Arsenal surprisingly played a narrow diamond formation so TAA benefited from having a lot of space to attack. He put in plenty of crosses so unlucky not to get more assists. Next, the double city defence were bit of a letdown especially Walker who picked a booking and a score of -1 but with good fixtures, I think my triple up of city defence was the right card to play. Time will tell.

Midfield

Next up, Sterling continues to be fantasy football gold with yet another goal. He really looks a must have for every team as he is adding consistency as well getting those really high double figure scores. Bernardo Silva on the other hand has been less exciting. His return of 6 points in two games is quite disappointing given his high cost. Maybe I picked the wrong Silva but as mentioned with City’s upcoming fixtures, there is plenty of hope for Bernardo. Lastly, I have no words to describe Harry Wilson. What a player and what a free kick. World class strike to beat a world class goalkeeper. Even Ederson would hold his hands up and say that was too good. Personally I wasn’t going to include Wilson in my team as I didn’t know much about him but my brother who is a Derby fan said a lot of positive things about him. He mentioned how good he is at shots outside the box  and how good he is at free kicks (scored another worldy in league cup last season). I did complain to my brother when Wilson was benched for the first game, he just said well, Eddie Howe doesn’t know how good he is.

Strikers

Finally, we come to the strikers. Brilliant performance from Salah. He was quiet in the first half but a penalty and brilliant solo goal ensured the star man award so 18 points there. On the other hand, Kane had a poor game vs Newcastle with no shots at goal and playing behind the other attackers at times. A slight concern but I am sure he will be back to normal service after the international break. Martial only got two points for an assist but is now ruled out for game week 4.

So the team has a total of 153 points and an overall position of 199k (before the Wolves vs Torino game). So a climb of 193k places = a green arrow. Hopefully I can start getting a run of green arrows.

Good luck to me and everyone for game week 4. See you next week.

Bryan O’Rourke

This is Bryan’s first season at Sun Dream team but he has a fantastic history in TFF finishing 37th last season and 7th in 17/18

Overall rank 78k, total points 168

60 points for the week and 168 overall, which places the team in 78719 position. I have a fire to put out with Walker-Peters and have opted to transfer him out for James at Manchester United. This will mean a return to the 3-4-3 formation and leave 0.8 million in the bank for the final transfer. The team looks good on paper so hopefully it rises up the charts soon. Best of luck.
