The big hitters were on form in game week 16, Sterling,De Bruyne and Salah picked up 59 points between them.  My 2nd transfer of the month was to bring in Aurier for Tomori it didn’t pay off straight away but I’m confident it will pay off in the long run.onto game week 17 now which I’ve been worried about, with Liverpool missing a game this week I’ll have 4 less players involved but I’ll have to take it on the chin as I wasn’t prepared to not have them for the good fixtures they’ve had the last few weeks.its not just the Liverpool players it’s also tough fixtures for the rest of my team with Man City playing Leicester and Tottenham playing Chelsea. I’m going to hold onto my last remaining transfer for December as there’s so many games in a short period of time there is likely to be injuries or rotation which I’ll keep a eye on. I hope you all have a great Xmas and a happy new year

Game week 16

Hello once again my fellow fantasy football managers. This week my team gained a good return of 80 points where the quarter finals of EFL cup were played. The player scores are in the picture after the commentary.

As usual, we will start the team review with the defence. I was happy to see Ederson keep a clean sheet (it’s been a while). I was a bit surprised that Man City didn’t concede considering the firepower of Arsenal but Ederson only had one save to make. Hopefully it can led to a run of clean sheets.

Next, I have moved Tomori on Van Dijk as one of my December transfers. Not much needs to be said why I chose the best defender in world football but I felt with Liverpool’s good run of fixtures after Christmas, he would slot in nicely with my other two Liverpool defenders. Also I felt that he was slightly on the expensive side at 6m at the start of the season so I am happy to have paid 4.7m of my team’s budget for him. Luckily, Liverpool kept a clean sheet before flying to Qatar as Watford missed some glorious chances. So 5 points each for TAA, Robertson and Van Dijk who also benefitted with bonus 3 points for 7+ rating.

In midfield, Liverpool midfielder Mane had a goal disallowed by VAR but still provided an assist. Man City midfielder Sterling ended his three game goal drought with a goal at Arsenal and then followed that up with two goals in the EPL cup tie vs Oxford playing in the striker role. Maddison played both games this week with the highlight being on the scoresheet vs Everton in the cup. A contender for star man but his rating went downhill after his penalty miss in the shootout. Finally, Chelsea’s poor league form continued with a 0-1 loss to Bournemouth. A game I banked on my Chelsea assets to do well as the Cherries had their best defenders in Cook and Ake injured so to see Pulisic blank again (becoming a habit now) was very disappointing.

So upfront, no goals for Chelsea meant Abraham blanked. Kane only picked up 2 points as he got booked in the Wolves game. Spurs have two games at home this week against Chelsea and Brighton. Kane should score well against Jose’s former club that are lacking in confidence and I don’t think they have kept a clean sheet away from home. So Kane should try a couple of long range shots to test Kepa who is having a poor season.

Lastly, I used my second December transfer to bring in Rashford for Mo Salah. I am becoming a big fan of Rashford. I feel it is only now that he is beginning to fulfil his true potential and turning into a world class player. I was very impressed with his performances vs Spurs and Man City and he is Man Utd’s star man. I see similarities when compared to Alexis Sanchez (the one at Arsenal) where he would terrorise defences with his pace and dribbling. There is talk of similarities between Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo particularly in the way Rashford strikes free kicks. Rashford does need to improve on his finishing as according to Whoscored it is strong but not in the very strong category. Nevertheless, I think he will be a good asset for my team particularly in the long term with Man Utd still in the domestic cups, Europa league – a competition they will start to take seriously as it offers a champions league place and of course they have their eyes on a top four finish. I also forgot to mention Rashford is on penalties which Man Utd do regularly benefit from with their counter attacking style. This week Rashford brought in 15 points with his star man performance in the league cup where he scored and assisted.

Team status

The team has a total of 1059 points and an overall position of 28k. So a small rise of 3.5k in places = a green arrow. One December transfer still available to use. The team has a value of 53.9 with 0.6m in the bank.

Transfer

This week I will use my final transfer to bring in Dele Alli for Maddison. The reasons why are exactly the same as I mentioned in my game week 14 review from a couple of weeks ago. Plus I had pencilled this move a while ago but wanted Maddison to play the league cup game. A big fan of Maddison but I feel Alli in the advanced number 10 (Maddison plays a bit deeper like a number 8) is a bigger goal threat and likely to be more explosive as he demonstrated recently in the game vs Bournemouth.

Good luck to me and everyone for game week 17. See you soon. Merry Christmas.

So, a great game week in the bank! The additions of KDB and Rashford have really paid off this week. KDB simply ran the Emirates on Sunday. In terms of performance, it was one of the best individual performances I have seen in a long long time. If it was not for Leno he would of had a hatrick.

Next, Marcus Rashford. He benefited from playing lowly Colchester at home in the Carabao Cup Quarter Finals. Bagging the first goal, gaining an assist then picking up MOTM. Can’t really ask for much more.

As far as the rest of the team goes there was clean sheets for 3/4 of my defenders and GK with Ederson, Robertson and TAA all managing to pick up a shutout in their respective matches. Alderweild was the only player to let the side down in that respect.

Raheem Sterling was actually my highest performer of the week. With 21 points. He seems to have the undroppable tag under Pep. Pep recently came out and said he was a “Machine” and his body regenerates like no other player he has ever worked with.

The reason I did not mention him straight off the bat is because he is not a differential like some of the other players. He is the most owned player in the whole of Sun Dream at 67%. He also has the most total points at 172. This means he is more a necessary evil then a match winner. I think the key with sterling is to pick and choose the months you have him in your team. It is a risky strategy but one that would yield the most success.

Mane picked up 5 points and Vardy 8 but there were blanks for Son and Mount. In January I will be looking to offload Mount as he has lost the goal threat which made him such a good buy early on in the season.

Looking towards this week. It’s going to be an interesting one. First of all there are no Liverpool players. This means i am playing with 8 men! But apart from that there are also some blockbuster fixtures. Man City host Leicster and Tottenham take on Chelsea.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas. Speak to you soon.

 Bryan O’Rourke

This is Bryan’s first season at Sun Dream team but he has a fantastic history in TFF finishing 37th last season and 7th in 17/18

53 points scored and new rank of 99216.

With 4 Liverpool players absent this week the mind boggles where this team will soon be ranked. With 2 transfers left I’m tempted to move out Mount now, but I will leave it a week and bring in Van Dijk for a massive Liverpool defence, and a change to a 4-3-3 line up. Thinking this is one sure fire way to rapidly climb the leader board. Or plumb the depths.

Very merry xmas with lots of good football.
