I thought before I started my stats on the various positions that it was worth giving some general points about Sun Dream Team this year and the specifics about Transfer window 4.

Firstly here’s the top 20 point scorers in Sun Dream Team to date:

Here’s a few points:

1.  14 of the 20 top point scoring players are those within the European competitions.  Up to transfer window 4 those teams in Europe will dominate the points table.  However only Chelsea and Man Utd are left in Europe playing PSG and Bayern respectively. Those games neutralises to a large extent the European advantage as they are completely different than Man City players gathering numerous points for thrashing Viktoria Plizen.  Most teams will have 7-10 games left although my recent fixtures article gives more detail.  Link below

2.  Arsenal and Hull are the only teams left in the FA Cup.  They should win their semi finals and play each other in the final.

3.  The lack of additional games puts more emphasis on fixture ease.  See my recent article on which teams have the best fixtures link below

4.  the top point scorers are made up positionally as follows:

• 8 of the 20 are strikers
• 6 of the 20 are midfielders
• 5 of the 20 are defenders
• 1 of the 20 are GKs

A more even spread than some years although the top 8 are midfielders and strikers which emphasises the dominance of them in the points pick.  The defenders all apart from Seamus Coleman are those involved in European competitions

5.  The points history is one thing but with the teams in Europe not having a distinct number of games advantage our analysis will feature points per game played rather than total points and the number and strength of fixtures left
