Here’s my Sun Dream Team transfers and my new Sun Dream Team
In the end injuries and manager selections dictated my transfers it was a very easy choice.
The injuries and selection problems were as follows
1. Clichy injured – with no return date and him losing his place to Kolarov this was a no brainer transfer out. City have quite difficult league fixtures over this period although their Champions league Group isn’t that bad. That eased the blow
2. Silva injured – by all accounts he will miss the game today and the champions league game midweek plus maybe the derby match v Utd. Much as i am a fan thats not sustainable over an 8 week transfer period
3. Mata – how has the guy who had the Sun Dream Team Star Man points in the bag during the warm up last year gone to this? Mourinho can say all he likes about Mata, how much he likes him etc etc there’s no way you can be locked in with the uncertainty over Mourinho’s selection policy over him
Here are the transfers:
1. Mata out – Hazard in
Chelsea coverage in attack in some way was essential in my mind and picking the least rotatable player wasn’t easy. Given a free choice I would have gone for Eto’o but you can see I had problems elsewhere in my team which needed fixing. Hazard still to me seems to be the guy who will play the most games until the next window. he’s featured consistently so far and in pre-season ad has been constantly talked up by Mourinho. Willian joining as a left sided player isn’t great but once you’ve decided that Chelsea should be covered in your team and you cant get in Eto’o then Hazard seemed the next best choice
2. Silva out – Eriksen in
A real gamble transfer this in 2 ways. Firstly I hate doubling up on attacking players. I am not an eggs in one basket fantasy football manager and this is definitely an issue in Sun Dream team when basically you know that one attacking player can never get the Sun Dream Team Star Man award. Not ideal. However Spurs have some great fixtures in the league and the Europa league and this guy is some talent (10 goals and 17 assists for Ajax last season). He should play regularly as he is the only creative playmaker and chance creator who plays centrally and Spurs desperately need that. He’s also great value at £4.0m. Not certain to play today but a “big possibility” according to AVB
3. Clichy out – Ivanovic in
Again I decided to spread the risk on defence and went for Chelsea coverage. I went for attacking potential over gametime security as Cole historically hasn’t been that popular with the Sun Dream Team raters and although Ivanovic has more rotation risk, Azpilicueta hasn’t exactly been the favourite of Mourinho to date.
I cant believe with Ozil joining and no rotation option that Giroud isn’t in my team. Absolutely gutted. if you have the chance put him in.
He will be the main man for me for Chelsea and far less rotated than any of the midfielders. However in this window RVP is essential, Soldado is the best attacking pick for Spurs and Bony is my Europa league Swansea gamble.
That its then. Here’s the rest of the team.
I haven’t included commentary on each player but there’s plenty of posts with that in the Sun Dream team category on the website.
