Bryan Forbes O’Rourke

Bryan finished an incredible 7th place overall in telegraph fantasy football last season

73 gameweek points, total points 511, Overall rank 1,761 transfers available 30

A good week, 73 points scored, 2 transfers used and now placed 1761 overall.

As alluded to last week, Allison and Robertson replaced Ederson and Stones and that went well with clean sheets all round. Every time I see the Arsenal team sheet with Augbameyang on the bench I wish I had picked Lacazette instead. Then the lanky Gabon hit-man comes off the bench and scores for fun. I’m hoping he starts the next match as he should score 5 or 6 given the extra minutes.

Andre Gray is the latest worry, having not started against Wolves. He may metamorphosize into a Trippier or Alonso like creature in due course.

Probably no transfers this week but I have said that before. Here’s to another good gameweek :)

58 Gameweek points Total Pts 514 Overall rank 1,521 Transfers available 30

Another good week for me with 58 points and a rank jump to around 1.5K. Points where spread over the lines with Trippier making me the most happy with 10 points. My planned transfer of Shaw to TAA didn’t happen since he was not in the team sheet and I didn’t have enough money for Robertson. Instead, I did B.Silva to Maddison on Monday night to free up some needed funds and take the minimum 2 extra points for the appearance. Leicester have a good run of fixtures from now, so he should be a good enabler.

For the week coming, Gray is under monitoring since he didn’t start last week, but not sure where to go with that position. What I know is that I want Hazard in for the week after, but that requires some extra raising of money. Robertson and Mendy are also in my imminent wish list, so a bit of thinking to do to try fit the most on. Lacazette could be the sacrifice, but he is serving me well so far and it would involve perhaps too many transfers.

Good luck for GW10 Geekers!

Ben Humphrey

Ben is a top 1k finisher in TFF

Week points: 58 Overall rank: 1,605 Transfers remaining: 34

I was really hoping to crack the top 2000 this week, and 58 points was enough to do it, so I’m very happy with that. With the big strikers failing to deliver on a regular basis, my decision to stick with just the two up front seems to be working for now.

The team

It was another good week for the defence. My Man City double up paid dividends again, with Mendy snatching a late assist to help things along. I also cashed in on a Liverpool double up after transferring Van Aanholt out for Gomez. This being TFF, I had the luxury of waiting for the Liverpool team sheet before making my change. Gomez was also given a key contribution to round his score up to a healthy 10 points, so that transfer worked a treat. The only let down was Alonso, and I’m starting to wonder if his price isn’t worth the return. I won’t be making any rash moves, but it’s something to think about.

It was a very average week in the middle. Salah finally came good, but Hazard and Maddison both failed to deliver. They have plenty of credit in my fantasy bank though so they are all good with me. Richarlison got himself a handy KC, but I will be hoping for a bit more from him.

Up front Aguero did his thing, coming home with seven points. There is a slight frustration growing that despite City’s demolition jobs, Aguero seems unable to get in to double figure territory, plus his inevitable removal near the hour mark. Even so, you can’t argue with his output, and we surely have to believe that there’s another Aguero storm on the horizon. Arny had another one pointer, but on another day, he could have had a hat-trick against Spurs, and with lovely sunny fixtures on the horizon, he won’t be going anywhere.

Team thoughts

Amazingly I am still able to look at my team without doubts or panic. As I said, I am starting to question Alonso’s value, and I will obviously keep an eye on the security of Gomez. He has been playing very well of late, and is clearly trusted either at right back or in the middle, regardless of the games importance. I am hoping that this means he will be a long term fixture, and not an irritating rotation risk.

With all that in mind, I shouldn’t be making any changes this week, barring injuries. Fingers crossed, I’m feeling in a good place with my team, rank and transfers. But I’m sure most of you have experience of everything suddenly going wrong. A handful of simultaneous injuries forcing you to rethink your entire team and strategy. I shall just be content for now, and do my best to stay patient.

Good luck, and may your arrows be Norwich shorts.
