Bryan Forbes O’Rourke

Bryan finished an incredible 7th place overall in telegraph fantasy football last season

53 gameweek points Overall rank 3,537 transfers available 34

Another mediocre week, 53 points scored, 1 transfers used and positioned 3,537 overall.

No much to say this week, all my transfer choices this year have been woeful and this team is heading for the garbage bin. I took Mahrez out last week in a huff and of course he scores a brace the following week. This week I took out Mendy at the last minute and dithered between Chilwell or Maddison. Of course Maddison scores and I chose Chilwell. And don’t mention John Stones.

This week Richarlison will come in for Lingard who has done next to nothing since he replaced Mahrez. Have a good weekend !

65 gameweek points Total Pts 347 Overall rank 2,616 transfers available 31

Decent week with 65 points for a rank improvement to position 2,616. All attackers that started the week but Mane chipped in with a goal, B.Silva with a KC on top. Defence also contributed with 3 out of 5 clean sheets.

However, I went a bid mad and used three transfers with no much immediate reward: Richarlison in for Schlupp, who I had budgeted to remove as soon as he would lose his starting place; Trippier in for Mendy because of the uncertainty regarding his injury; and finally I made a proactive move bringing in Lacazette in place of Mane to take advantage of the extra game and good fixtures while Liverpool face Chelsea and City. I had B.Silva pencilled in for such a move, however he keeps playing and returning well, so no reason to remove him at this moment.

All in all, happy with the moves even though only Lacazette delivered this week, Richarlison was lively vs Arsenal and Trippier just lost the clean sheet in the last minute of the game. The team is now well setup for the coming weeks, so I will try to sit tight unless unexpected injuries or suspensions.

Good luck for GW7 Geekers!

Ben Humphrey

Ben is a top 1k finisher in TFF

Week points: 61 Overall rank: 3, 077 Transfers remaining: 36

As planned, I sacked Sokratis and hired the services of Richarlison. I had the Everton attacker from the start, and always wanted to bring him back after his ban. I also made an unplanned transfer of Mendy out and Moura in. I was agonisingly £0.1 away from being able to bring in Mitrovic, but as we all say, you can’t have everyone. I did toy with the idea of keeping Mendy, but I have been burned too many times by the never ending return date scenario. I’m sure we’ve all had it, when you keep a player in, thinking they must be back next week, then the next week, and before you know it, you’ve had an injured player in your team for a month or more.

It was a solid defensive display from my chaps with four clean sheets, and my choice to remove Sokratis was vindicated when he hobbled off in the first half.

My five man midfield didn’t do too bad, with Salah getting his goal and my last minute sub Moura notching an assist. But the star of the show was my mate James Maddison with another 10 points. I am so glad I took my own advice and had him in from the start of the season. He has proved a bargain and a half. Let’s hope he can keep it up.

Up front, it was mildly disappointing that Aguero could only collect 7 points from a 5 – 0 spanking of Cardiff. It was however far more disappointing that I finally lost the ongoing game of Austrian roulette. I’m hoping that Arnautovic will recover for this weekend as I’m desperately trying to hold off on my transfers.

The only transfer I could make this week, would be Arnautovic for Mitrovic. It will be a case of waiting on any news. As much as I would like Mitrovic, I am reluctant to release Arny. He has served me well thus far and seems to be largely fixture proof. I know if I get rid of him, he will inevitably come back to haunt me.

May your arrows be Norwich shorts.
