Telegraph fantasy football tips – the FFGeek contributors show their teams for TFF’S week 19

Bryan O’Rourke

Bryan finished 37th in TFF last season and 7th in 17/18

Week points: 88 Overall rank: 49k

88 points scored and placed 49404 place overall.

While it should be a week of celebration having caught sight of the lesser spotted Liverpool clean sheet, not having Jamie Vardy has softened the mood.

In an effort to make up ground there will be transfers burned to take advantage of the blank week ahead for Liverpool. Out will go Allison, Alexander-Arnold and Mane after the Liverpool’s lunchtime game. In will come De Gea, Wan-Bissaka and Martial. The funds in the bank after those transfers will mean I can also take out the non playing Tomori for Maguire. Spurs and others also have a 3 – 0 over Liverpool over the same period but I’m pinning my hopes on a rejuvenated United. That will take the team up to Liverpool’s late game on Boxing day and will take stock then.

24 transfers left after the weekends xmas shopping spree. Good luck and a good weekend.

Sergio Torija

Sergio finished with an overall rank in the 300’s last season

Another week, another poor showing with 85 points for the both set of games, and this is being painful. I somehow didn’t do the Aumabeyang to Kane move that I thought I did, although I got away with it with with Auba delivering.

This week there is a good opportunity to get extra games by removing Liverpool players, many teams have 3 games before Liverpool plays again on boxing day against Leicester, or 4 games for the Liverpool 1 for the following Liverpool game vs Wolves at the end of the year. I particularly like the look of United, Spurs or Villa (for budget) over this period. So I’m going to swap Salah for Rashford, and if Tomori doesn’t come back to the team, he will go for Grealish. I won’t mess around with my Liverpool defenders since I am very low in transfers and I will definitely want them back.

Good luck this week Geekers!

Ben Humphrey

Ben finished with an overall rank of 576 last season

Week points: 102 Rank: 14.0K Transfers remaining: 23

Team review

I would class that as another decent week. Things certainly feel as though they are on an upwards curve, and if I could enter the new year in the top 10,000, I would be very happy.

I went for it last week, using all three of the planned transfers. Abraham came back in for Aubameyang, meaning that I could leave in Pulisic for the early game. He was then chopped out for Alli, who got off to a good start with 8 points. Then it was Mount out for Ings, who gave me the welcome gift of a goal.

One of the surprise heroes of my week was Mr Baldock, who brought home 10 points without even keeping a clean sheet.

The undisputed King of recent times though, has to be Sir Vardy of Leicestershire. He netted 18 points over the week, and shows no sign of slowing.

Team thoughts

After my transfer binge, I am hoping to sit on my transfers until Christmas has passed. Saying that and doing it, are two very different things. The temptation to tinker over the festive period will be great, but if an opportunity arises, I won’t ignore it just for the sake of saving transfers. The key is, not to rush anything, and to thoroughly think any changes through before making them.

Two players I wouldn’t mind having are Son and Rashford. However, that just can’t happen at the moment, but should anything happen to my first team, they are the first options I would be looking at.

The only remaining source of true irritation left in my team is Ederson. When I have paid £4.5m for a keeper, I expect some clean sheets. I am however slightly trapped, as I am loathed to use a transfer to exchange him for another keeper. He will have to remain with the hope of a defensive improvement for City. If at some point in the future I need to free up some cash, I know where I shall be getting it.

Good luck everyone.

Stephen Troop

Stephen finished with an OR in the 900’s last season

GW Score – 95, overall rank 18.5k

What started out a reasonably positive week with the midweek games, ended up much less successful after the weekend. Liverpool finally kept a clean sheet but it was only a part clean sheet for TAA, which was frustrating. Chilwell injured for his clean sheet was also frustrating, but Soyuncu continues to be great value, and was very close to a goal in the Villa game.

The Manchester derby was a disaster for my team with Ederson, KDB and Sterling both blanking. Mount and Trossard chipped away (although for Trossard it was via the subs bench midweek). Vardy continues to party and I doubt there are any active/serious teams without him now. The Mane benching was the biggest disappointment.

All of this meant an almost 3kish reduction in rank to 18.7k as a lot of players punished my rank (Aubameyang and Kane in particular who are highly owned but also Rashford, Salah and Maddison).

Going forward my plan remains the same. Mane/Robertson have the Watford game at the weekend and then, because of next weeks blank, will be removed. May players have a 3-0, 4-1 and 5-2 over Liverpool. The 4-1 looks most tempting due to the 1 being a tricky away game away at Leicester. I’ll keep TAA just because using 6 transfers on these games seems a bit much, but with Mane/Robertson’s price points it means I can get anyone.

There are a few options I’m looking at. The spurs assets and Rashford being the main ones. I’ll tweet the final changes I make.

I’ll hold onto Ederson for now as I’m keen to hold onto transfers and see what the outcome of the FA cup is in early January.

Good luck all
