Telegraph fantasy football tips – the FFGeek contributors show their teams for TFF’S week 18

Bryan O’Rourke

Bryan finished 37th in TFF last season and 7th in 17/18

Week points: 48 Overall rank: 47k

An average sort of week with 48 points scored and slight drop to 47804 place overall.

Pleased to see Abraham fit for the midweek game with his goal and assist, along with goods points from Mane, that being the highlight of the week. Still waiting for the elusive Liverpool clean sheet, there may be a new year and a new government before that occurs.

No transfers planned for this week although tempted to ship out Kane after watching the midweek game and seeing how deep he is positioned. Further ahead, there are 3-0 possibilities later in December for Man United and Spurs (and others) with Liverpool’s blank week, so some transfers may get burned then.

Good luck.

Sergio Torija

Sergio finished with an overall rank in the 300’s last season

Two consecutive poor 38 point scores to continue with this year misery. Transferred in Alisson, Chillwell and Salah a week ago for a combined total of 3 points after two games. Martial is injured again, so I removed him for Alli. At least I kept Abraham, who came straight back with 10 points.

Feeling like changing the whole team, but you can’t do that, so at least I’ve got rid of Aubameyang for Kane, to be a little bit more happy.

I suppose there will be some good opportunities for chances with Liverpool’s rearranged game in a couple of weeks

Good luck this week Geekers!

Ben Humphrey

Ben finished with an overall rank of 576 last season

Week points: 49/49 Rank: 17.5K Transfers remaining: 26

Team review.

What are the odds of that? 49 points at the weekend, and 49 again during the week. I suppose that works out about average as my rank didn’t really do much.

The lack of Man City and Liverpool clean sheets is becoming slightly farcical now. We all keep waiting for something to change, but it doesn’t. We may as well dump all our expensive defenders and save ourselves a fortune. At least Liverpool’s defenders are making up for it with attacking returns.

At this point, I should point out that I’m an idiot. I panicked last week over the Abraham injury, and thought I would change him for Pulisic. I was then totally out of the football loop during mid-week and missed Abraham coming back with his goal and assist.

Keeping Aubameyang for the Norwich game did pay off, but I’m still not convinced he is worth the outlay at present.

The stars of the week have to be Mane and Vardy. They just both keep going and going.

Team thoughts

Assuming Abraham plays against Everton, he will have to come back in for Pulisic. There’s a lesson in how to waist two transfers.

This would leave me with 25 remaining transfers, which isn’t disastrous, but I am tempted with a few more moves. Last week I mentioned my thoughts on bringing in Ings or Son. I have no desire to lose Vardy or Abraham, so that leaves just one striker spot. I have however come up with a work around. I could bring in Ings for Aubameyang, which would leave me enough cash to change Mount for Mr hot pants himself, Alli £4.8m. These are both players in very good form, and at the time of writing, Alli is in 3.9% of teams, while Ings is in just 1.5%. Spurs also have three of their next four at home, while Southampton still have some good upcoming fixtures.

This would take me down to 23 transfers, but I can live with that, as long as I sit on my hands until Christmas.

Good luck everyone.

Stephen Troop

Stephen finished with an OR in the 900’s last season

GW13 Score – 46, overall score 599, overall rank 15.6k

Last weekend was a bit of a disaster for me. Midweek has fared better. Over the course of the 2 sets of games I have only managed to maintain my rank (-300 ish places) and am struggling to make real gains from the 15/16k mark.

I did 2 transfers. In light of the Abraham news, I moved him on for Mane and moved Buendia on to Chilwell to gain the small amount of funds I needed. Abraham was back sooner than expected but Mane did outscore him and I’m happy with him in my team. Chilwell being injured and missing out on that clean sheet midweek was frustrating as would have made the week and the moved much better.

I have a few frustrations with the Liverpool defenders lack of clean sheets (particularly Robertson who is expensive) and Ederson not living up to being the most expensive goalkeeper. Despite this I’ll be sticking by them. Mount has been frustrating, but he is cheap and there is no obvious replacement I want to use a transfer on.

My plans therefore haven’t changed. No transfers this week. My next transfers will be after Liverpool play Watford mid-December and then to take advantage of the 3-0s/4-1s as they miss a game. Spurs assets are the most likely people I’ll be bringing in.

Good luck all
