Here’s the points
Another disappointing round sadly with my transfers an absolute disaster. I took out scorers Gordon and Oyarzabal out to make way for an extra ‘defender’ in Harry Kane (!) The Round was salvaged by 2 Spain clean sheets and Captaining Messi so it was only a small drop in ranking but it could have been a nice boost up had I not tinkered so much. All in all, my World Cup campaign has floundered somewhat after a strong Round of 32. Let’s see if I can at least finish with a decent last round.
Team for Finals Weekend – Max Captain played
Much of what I do with my team this weekend will depend on how heavy France and England rotate their teams. I would be surprised if we see identical line-ups to the semi-finals so I’m expecting some changes and this will underpin what I do this Round. I expect Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe to both play if they’re fit with them both still in the race for The Golden Boot, but after that I reckon anything goes really in a game that could be a very random open match or a dour Saturday evening kick around in the park.
As for the Final, this is of course impossible to call in terms of the result but I expect team selection to be much clearer. I’d be very surprised if either team make significant changes to what have been successful winning formulae so far. We also have the benefit of 6 transfers for this round so I plan to make sure I’ve got a good core of players in my team for the final then to focus my remaining transfers on some differentials from the Bronze Final.
One transfer I am certain to make is to change one of my keepers as at present I have both keepers from The Final. So depending on the team news, I’ll be changing Emi Martinez for whichever French keeper starts. My next priority will be ensuring I field 3 starting strikers. If either Kane or Mbappe are benched, then I’ll be bringing Oyarzabal in. After that, I think I’ll lean more heavily on French assets for the Bronze Final and then probably try and work another Spanish defender (probably Pedro Porro) in for the Final.
This is how my team could look for example, but as I say much will depend on how the line-ups land for the Bronze match. We’ll get these through around 845pm so I’ll update in the World Cup Slack Channel (see link above) with my final team. I’ve also already activated my 1 remaining Booster – the Maximum Captain so I’ve no need to worry about who I Captain in each game. Good luck everyone
