FFGeek teams results
Fantasy premier league
There are approximately 4.5m teams in FPL
You’ve got to be happy being in the top 0.5% of teams. The bookies team was the big success and on an incredibly small budget
Sky Sports Fantasy Football
I believe there are around 1 million teams in this format
Total Points: 2,855 Overall rank: 34
I’m quite gobsmacked at this result given how little attention I gave it. Had every bit of luck you could possibly have though as everything virtually went right that could
Sun Dream Team
I believe there are around 2 million teams in this format. This still has the Europa League Final and the FA Cup final to go
Team 1 points: 2030 Overall rank: 14,426 updated for end of season 15,105
Team 2 points: 1958 Overall rank: 30,522 updated for end of season 26,706
Disappointing finish as I got priced out of Harry Kane who destroyed my rank at the end
Telegraph fantasy football
I believe there are around 250k teams in this format. This still has the FA Cup final to go
Total points: 1859 Overall rank: 14,540 updated for end of season 16,278
A disappointing campaign where everything went wrong. I did better when I could make no changes after my transfers ran out.
Detailed analysis of my FPL team
There are 2 excellent tools to analyse your FPL performance with although it needs a comparison in some ways.
The 2 tools are:
Selected stats
Here’s some selected stats from both the gargatron tool to analyse my team in comparison to the bookies team which ended up 57 points ahead of mine
Nothing earth shattering here. The bookies team had 29 points more luck (or investing in a stronger bench?) with auto subs and took no hits compared to my 20 points
Where points came from?
So of the 57 points difference 44 came from the Defenders (37 points) and the GK (7 points)
I got 30 points more in midfield but 17 points less in forwards
Best and worst players
Includes captain points unfortunately which makes it hard to analyse. The FFGeek team first and then the bookies team.
Captain choices
Apart from Sanchez, I only moved away from strikers as captain 3 times and none were successful. The Bookies only used midfielders 4 times and only Sanchez was successful, albeit only used once.
Formation
Is 3-4-3 the best formation?
Goalkeeper choice
Didn’t make a huge difference in the end but could have been better. It’s worth noting that the bookies had Marshall on the bench for a decent time who wasn’t played which distorts this
What do these stats mean?
It’s only a 2 team comparison so it’s hard to take out much but for what it’s worth:
- Defence can make a difference
- Maybe keep to a core choice of captain players and are strikers generally best?
- Is 3-4-3 the best formation?
- Auto sub points. Luck or is the bench also worth investing in with rotation and injuries
Hope you found the above useful. I may do this on the top 10 FPL managers to see what we can learn
