Value risk players
Mertesacker
With Mustafi injured Mertesacker has stepped up in the last 2 games and that points to him holding his place until GW13 when Mustafi is back. Unfortunately after GW10 the schedule isn’t particularly kind
Everton
I don’t believe that a defence with the personnel in the team is fundamentally flawed despite some of the results and if a new manager can decide which of the £4.3m RBs of Holgate and Martina will be first choice then there is a bargain there. Until then they don’t represent value at the moment
Suggested Players for GW10
Here we look at finding the some options for GW10 balancing defensive strength, the next fixture and fixtures ahead.
Otamendi – he still has some residual risk with Kompany returning but that doesn’t appear to be happening anytime soon
Cedric or Van Dijk – Can Van Dijk be the key to a defence that warrants home and away selection. Van Dijk’s early performances also suggest there will be attacking returns from him as well
Moreno – you may laugh after the weekend’s catastrophic defensive performance but here’s my reasoning. Moreno is only £4.5m so he doesn’t need to play every week. Although Liverpool have only 3 clean sheets they do have produced defensive stats worthy of a clean sheet in 5 of the 9 games. Their defensive stats are distorted by a couple of thrashings. Gomez is a same priced full back with much better attacking stats but I feel he’s slightly less secure.
