Fantasy premier league – DGW31 “ones to watch” cheapie midfielders

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s my fantasy premier league “ones to watch” for midfielders at or under £6.0m.  Again Ive done it in the new format.  As I said in the previous article, I’ve now based it around a table of key stats to make it easier to follow.  I’ve put a key at the bottom of the table to show what each column represents although they are in the main the previous stats.  Below the table I’ve shown the  gameweeks for each player afixtures for all the gameweeks to the end of the season and given a line or 2 on each specifically commenting on gametime issues.

KEY

1.  Rank.  My order of the players with the best at the top based on the stats

2.  Time per fantasy premier league point scored this year.  This is how many minutes it takes for a Barclays fantasy premier league point to be scored over the course of the season.  The lower the better obviously.

3.  Consistency:  The % of times that the player got a goal or assist   as a % of games played

4.  Last 5 points:  The total points scored in the last 5 games

5.  Last 5 returns:  The number of times that a player has got a goal or an assist in the last 5 games played

6.  Fixture ease ranking:  The link is at the bottom of the article but essentially I’ve ranked all the teams by the ease of the first 6 fixtures.  The team with the best ranking ie 1 will have the easiest next fixtures of any of the fantasy premier league teams over the next 6 games.

7.  I’ve also added how many of the top 10 fantasy premier league managers I’ve followed.

1.  Sterling

Liverpool against United rolled out a diamond formation in midfield with Sterling at the tip and Gerrard at the base with Allen and Henderson at the side.  Sterlings position is one in which you would normally associate with Coutinhos creativity and that does create some gametime doubt.  It maybe famous last words but I can’t see Sterling being left out even if you ignore the current poor form of Coutinho.  Liverpool specialise in getting behind defences and counter attacking and I just can’t see Sterling being left out of such a side.  I’m not sure the position actually suits him as well as out wide though and he had a quiet game.  Whether this will continue or whether Rodgers will revert to 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 which both suit Sterling more remains to be seen.  He’s still a cheap entry into a very free scoring Liverpool side.  His consistency, returns this year and last 5 points and returns are the best of the cheapies

2.  Snodgrass

No DGW31.   Set pieces and Norwich starting to score have put him into a reasonable vein of form at the moment.  Has also benefittied from some good fixtures. These get harder unfortunately but not until GW35

Swansea (A)
West Brom (H)

Liverpool (H)
Man Utd (A)

3.  De Guzman

De Guzman has stepped into the role behind Bony in Hernadez’s absence. Whether he will continue to do that remains to be seen.  He has worked effectively though in the double pivot of 4-2-3-1 as the box to box partner.  However the main emphasis for De Guzman is set pieces where he is likely to get his returns.  Very difficult DGW31 fixtures

4.  Sissoko

After 2 goals at Hull alot was expected against the porous Fulham defence last week.  However although he saw alot of the ball it was a fairly quiet performance in terms of attacking output.  Newcastle aren’t the same without Remy and Remy will not be back for DGW31.  2 home DGW31 fixtures are the attraction though

5.  Rosicky

The only real negative of Rosicky is gametime.  With Ozil, Wilshere and Walcott relatively long term injuries and the latest “estimate” of when Ramsey will be back of GW32 then he has a better chance of starting than ever.  He has started the last 4 although is often the sub target for a CDM of they are leading.  Cazorla and Podolski will start in the attacking 3 I think.  Then it’s a case of whether Rosicky or the Ox plays in the attacking 3 or whether the Ox starts further back as he has in the last 2 games.  The risk is though, especially for the Chelsea game, is that Arteta and Flamini start as the defensive 2 and that the Ox replaces Rosicky.  If you can live with this risk his returning propects are good for the price tricky fixtures or not

6.  Mutch

No DGW31.   Back in the team after his 2 assist haul against Fulham but subbed after 56 minutes as OGS continues to give fantasy premier league mangers headaches over selection.  Was quiet against Everton but thats hardly a fixture you’re going to roll him out for anyway.  Has the basics of an attacking midfielder driven to get into the box and score at a cheap price.  One of the better cheapie returners this year.

7.  Huddlestone

Purely for his set pieces and 2 DGWs. famously went 2 years without scoring.  Has scored twice this year though plus 5 assists.

8.  Delph

Scored the winner against Chelsea to take his total to 3 goals and 2 assists for the season.  An all action box to box player with a powerful shot and reasonable fixtures to the end of the season.  No set piece involvement or DGW.  A cheap filler  with reasonable fixtures who has the ability to pop up for a goal.

9.  Ki

With Colback on the bench last week the cheapest Sunderland player without any gametime issues becomes Ki.  Unfortunately his days behind the striker are long gone and its 6 games without a return.  However he does give you the option in DGW31, GW34 and GW37 of an easy 4 points if you have 2 rotating cheapies in your team.  His YC record is pretty good too.

10.  Noble

Essentially a CDM.  However does have set pieces and pens.  Andy Carrolls goal for Nobles free kick was a perfect indication of the additional assist potential Carroll provides for Noble.  A little more expensive than you would hope though
