fantasy premier league game week 8 – Saturdays remaining games – the immediate reaction

Here’s the fantasy premier league immediate reaction to the remaining Saturday game week 8 games

Swansea 2 Wigan 1

After a number of poor performances Laudrup changed things around and Michu played up front in a 4-2-3-1 with Graham deservedly dropped.  Britton and Ki screened in front of the usual back 4 and the attacking midfield 3 was De Guzman, Pablo and Routledge.  Dyer was on the bench

Wigan lined up without any surprises.

Swansea deserved to win a game that they dominated early but then were lucky to hold on when Kone could easily have got the benefit of the doubt for his offside goal.  Swansea led possession at 57% and the shots by 18/11 to 10/7.

Maloney had the best shooting stats followed by Michu who showed what a lethal finisher he is when given the chance.  Unfortunately Swansea have 2 difficult games against City and Chelsea  before they go to Southampton so if you haven’t got him I wouldn’t rush in to then despite the position change.

Routledge led the chances created column followed by De Guzman.  Pablo was the most forward midfielder for Swansea, even further up than Michu.  Maloney for Wigan.

Pablo was the most influential player in the final third for Swansea. Maloney and McCarthy for Wigan.

Fulham 1 Villa 0

A few surprises in the Fulham line up.  With Ruiz not making it Richardson came in instead of Kacaniklic.  Baird held his place over Karagounis and Diarra and scored the winner.  Martin Jol played 3 forwards in Rodallega, Petric and Berba.

Nothing surprises me with Lambert and Bent starting over Benteke didn’t even raise an eyebrow.  The rest of the team was relatively predictable apart from Ireland returning.

Fulham deservedly won and Lambert seems to have gone in to his shell and is  trying to resolve Villas problems defensively rather than attack his way out as he did at Norwich.

Possession was 57% to Fulham and the shot count 17/8 to 9/4 for Villa.  Berba and Richardson led the shot stats.  Risse, Lowton and Richardson led the chances created column. Richardson and Ireland were the most forward midfielders.  Agbonlahor was the most influential player in the final third for Villa.  He also did alot of shooting but could get nothing on target.   Berba was the most influential for Fulham.

West Ham 4 Southampton 1

Tomkins came in for the injured Demel for West Ham and the main surprise was Benayoun for Vaz Te with Taylor no where to be seen.

For Southampton the bizarre dropping of Lambert seems to continue.  Hooiveld came in for Yoshida to combat Carroll. Adkins came to attack with Do Prado and Puncheon both in the team and Rodriguez up front.

The game was another exercise in self destruction for Southampton with another ridiculous penalty given away.  Nolan continued to score and Lallana converted his promise to a goal.  Long suffering fantasy premier league owners of Noble finally got their reward with 2 goals.

Possession was 53% to Saints as is often the case with Big Sams teams.  Shots were West Ham 9/8 to 11/4 which showed the game was fairly even, its just Saints inability to defend costing them heavily each week.

Nolan as is often the case led the goal threat.  Fantasy premier league managers be warned though after an away game to Wigan things get seriously ugly on the fixture front.  Noble was close behind.  No one really registered on the chances created column.

Jarvis and Lallana/Puncheon were the most forward midfielders. In the final third the most influential were Carroll and Lallana
