FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW11 PLAYER PICKS BY ROB REID (THE FPL VET)

Hi and welcome to my Gameweek 11 Player Picks. For each gameweek, I’ll be picking out 3 players in distinct player selection categories.

Player Categories

One Banker – this will take form and the fixture ease schedule into account and is a player who I think is a must for the next few gameweeks and should provide a steady stream of points.

One Ace – a player who I think has a good chance of scoring big this week. I’ll take form, this weeks fixtures and the bookies odds into account here.

One Joker – a player who is a bit of punt but I think may surprise a few people. Might be a low ownership player, someone coming back from injury or just a bit of a gut feeling on my part – there will be no evidence base on this one!

I’ll keep a tally each week of how things are going – I’ll analyse the Banker over 4 GWs, the other 2 will just be on a weekly basis. Wish me luck and here goes!

Gameweek 10 Review

Here’s a link to Rob’s article last week

GW7 Banker – Sergio Aguero

GW7 – injured
GW8 – 0 points (didn’t play)
GW9 – 7 points (1 goal, 1 bonus point)
GW10 – 0 points (didn’t play) – rested after 120 minutes in midweek and given a full game against Napoli in the UCL this week. Should still start versus Arsenal this weekend I reckon.

GW8 Banker – David Silva

GW8 – 7 points (1 goal)
GW9 – 3 points (midfield clean sheet)
GW10 – 2 points – another blank this week, but didn’t start against Napoli in the UCL so his minutes should be secure this weekend.

GW9 Banker – Rob Elliot

GW9 – 7 points (clean sheet, 1 bonus point)
GW10 – 3 points (1 save point) – a good display again from Elliot and he could do nothing about Burnley’s winner. Bournemouth at St James’ Park next and Benitez will hopefully be looking to keep it tight defensively.

GW10 Banker – Mohamed Salah

GW10 – 4 points (midfield clean sheet, assist, missed penalty) – an odd week for the Egyptian, first threatening a negative haul and then turning it around with the assist for Liverpool’s 3rd. Another solid display from him in the UCL this week and the Reds travel to London to face a West Ham defence riddled with injuries this week. Here’s hoping for an open game!

GW10 Ace – Richarlison

1 point (yellow card) – a very disappointing week for the Brazilian as he squandered a couple of good chances and then picked up a frustrating booking late on. His statistics are still good and it’s struggling Everton this week for the Hornets so I certainly wouldn’t be selling on the basis of this one bad week.

GW10 Joker – Pascal Groß

7 points (1 assist, 2 bonus points) – 5 assists, 2 goals and 8 bonus points this season. The pick of the budget midfielders at the moment I reckon as he seems to be involved in nearly every attacking return that Brighton produce.

Gameweek 11 Picks

Banker – Phil Jones (Man United £5.3m) – che

An odd fixture to start him on perhaps, but I actually think United have a decent chance of a clean sheet this weekend. Chelsea were awful away to Roma in midweek and if anyone knows how to get a result at Stamford Bridge, it’s Jose Mourinho. I’m expecting the bus to be firmly parked and Phil Jones to bank some points as a result. He has 3 cracking fixtures after that before United visit Arsenal in GW15. At £5.3m (likely rising to £5.4 soon) he’s fantastic value.

Ace – Dele Alli (Spurs £9.3m) – CRY

Who can ignore Spurs this week after one of the best European results in their history? Most people will be backing Kane against bottom of the table Palace, though I’ve just got a slight concern that his minutes may be managed after his recent minor injury. So for a slightly safer option, Alli is a good shout. He was superb in the UCL this week and I think his 2 goals against Real could be the start of a good run for the midfielder who effectively plays as a second striker.

Joker – Andre Gray (Watford £6.3m) – eve

I’m back with Watford again for one of my picks this week, despite them letting me down in both the Ace and Captaincy stakes last time! I’ve gone for Andre Gray who looks set to profit from Troy Deeney’s suspension with some extended game time. This week he comes up against the 2nd worse defence in the league so far and the 1.3% of FPL managers who own him will certainly be hoping that he can cash in.

That’s it from me on Player Picks – best of luck this week everyone
