Here’s a short fantasy premier league preseason report on Arsenal, Everton, Huddersfield , Liverpool, Stoke Swansea, Spurs and WBA’s opening pre-season games.
fantasy premier league preseason roundup – Friday 14 July
Games at this stage are a bit of a waste of time for lineups and form. They’re generally about fitness and sides are changed almost in their entirety at half time and mixed with youth players
Sydney FC 0 Arsenal 2
Goals: Mertesacker, Lacazette
Lineup: 3-4-2-1 Cech – Bielik, Mertsacker, Kolasinac – Nelson, Coquelin, Willock, Bramall, – Ozil, Walcott, Welbeck
After 68 mins unknown formation. Lazazette, Giroud, The Ox, Iwobi, Monreal, Martinez, Xhaka, Maitland-Niles, Elneny, Malen, Nketiah
Not much to learn here. Kolasinac’s played LCB rather than LWB. 3-4-2-1 was played in the first half at least. Sanchez, Bellerin and Mustafi are on post Confed Cup match. 17 yo Nelson was the star at RWB and Lacazette scored within 15 mins
Arsenal potential GW1 lineup on current info:
Gor Mahia FC 1-2 Everton
Goals: Rooney, Dowell
Stekelenburg; Connolly, Jagielka, Kenny, Williams; Schneiderlin, McCarthy, Lennon, Klaassen, Lookman, Rooney
Subs: Hewelt, Baines, Keane, Davies, Mirallas, Pennington, Calvert-Lewin, Gueye, Barry, Besic, Dowell
Again another teams of 2 halves. Rooney played no 9 and scored although new signing Sandro wasn’t playing. Keane and Klaasen got off to adequate starts
Everton potential GW1 lineup on current info:
Assuming Barkley leaves
Accrington Stanley 0-1 Huddersfield Town
Goal: Ince
Town’s first-half XI:
Jonas Lossl, Sean Scannell, Mathias Zanka, Christopher Schindler (c), Scott Malone, Danny Williams, Philip Billing, Elias Kachunga, Jack Payne, Joe Lolley, Steven Mounie
Town’s second-half XI:
Joel Coleman, Martin Cranie, Mark Hudson (Kasey Palmer, 74’), Dean Whitehead (c), Chris Lowe, Jonathan Hogg, Harry Bunn, Tom Ince, Nahki Wells, Rajiv Van La Parra, Laurent Depoitre
Again a teams of 2 halves so nothing much to learn.
Huddersfield potential GW1 lineup on current info:
Sydney FC 0-3 Liverpool,
Goals: Sturridge, Moreno Firmino
1st half: Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Carragher, Lovren, Moreno, Lucas, Gerrard, Woodburn, Firmino, Wilson, Sturridge.
2nd half: Karius (Mignolet 75), Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Agger, Klavan, Stewart, Lallana, Moreno (Randall 57), Woodburn, McManamanan, Brewster.
Liverpool potential GW1 lineup on current info
This assumes that Mane isn’t fit for the start of the season. If he is Coutinho could get pushed back and Can left on the bench with Henderson the CDM
NEUCHATEL XAMAX 0 STOKE CITY 1
Own goal
Stoke City First Half: Butland; Bardsley (Edwards 19), Shawcross (C), Sweeney, Pieters; Adam, Jarvis; Arnautovic, Bojan, Telford; Berahino. Subs: Edwards, Campbell.
Stoke City Second Half: Haugaard; Johnson, Wollscheid, Souttar, Tymon; Muniesa, Imbula; Ngoy, Shenton (Campbell 80), Verlinden; Crouch.
2 different teams with players mixed everywhere so little of interest. Apparently Berahino was in good shape.
Stoke potential GW1 lineup on current info
Arnautovic could leave as he’s wanted by West Ham and wants to go.
Barnet 1-0 Swansea City
Swans (first half): Erwin Mulder, Angel Rangel, Mike van der Hoorn, Federico Fernandez, Connor Roberts, Jay Fulton, Tom Carroll, Wayne Routledge, Modou Barrow, Jefferson Montero, Oli McBurnie.
Swans (second half): Erwin Mulder, Kyle Naughton, Keston Davies, Kyle Bartley, Connor Roberts, Adam King, Matt Grimes, Leroy Fer, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Luciano Narsingh, Jordan Ayew.
Same again. Apparently Swansea dominated but could not score.
Swansea potential GW1 lineup on current info
I’ve assumed Llorente doesn’t recover for GW1 and Siggy stays which is a very big if at the moment
Spurs 4-0 Leyton Orient
Goals: Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, Kyle Walker-Peters, Jaden Brown and Will Miller
It was a closed door friendly and I couldn’t find any lineups but the identity of the scorers gives you an idea of the reserve nature of the team
Spurs potential GW1 lineup on current info
I’ve assumed Walker leaves. Rose is out until at least GW2. There are conflicting reports over Son HM who has a broken arm. Some suggest he will be fit, some suggest September. To be monitored
Slavia Prague 2-1 West Brom
Goal: James Maclean
Albion 1st half (4-1-4-1): Foster; Nyom, Evans, Dawson, Brunt; Yacob; McClean, Livermore, Rodriguez Phillips; Rondon.
Albion 2nd half (4-4-1-1) : Myhill, Lowe (on trial), Wilson, O’Shea, Melbourne; McManaman, Harper, Field, Leko; Robson-Kanu; Roberts.
Wow something that looks like a first team in the first half. Rodriguez played no 10 with Rondon CF. Phillips and MacLean were the stars by all accounts
WBA potential GW1 lineup on current info
Fletcher going has left some uncertainty to the lineup
