fantasy premier league wildcard tips – my imaginary one for GW29

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my fantasy premier league wildcard tips article for GW29.  This is where we pretend we have a wildcard to use to give player picks for more longevity than just the next game week

So below is the team.  Value is around £106.0m.  I personally wouldn’t do a wildcard now this is just to give you player picks with some longevity

See my article from earlier in the year on the 2nd wildcard which gives some thoughts.  I’m thinking either GW32/33 or GW36 as there could be chances for a WC and then a bench boost (you can’t use them in the same week) in the DGW34 and DGW37 potential DGWs.  There will also be postponements for the FA Cup semis in GW35 though.  The team below has some flexibility for a WC in either position.

If you’re dead set on a WC before a potential DGW34 then you can just ignore everything except GW30 and having a full team.  If you’re maintaining flexibility then you need to think ahead a bit

Sorry for the lack of stats.  The short gameweek has made things difficult

The Team

So with Villa and Norwich next it’s hard not to triple up on Man City.  Aguero is obvious.  Defence was between Kompany and Otamendi.  Kompany is fresher but more injury prone and that could increase rotation.  Otamendi is first choice but has played alot of games.  The fullbacks are too rotatable.  GK Hart is an option but even he isn’t risk free after his Liverpool performance and Caballero’s heroics in the Cap 1.

Arsenal and Spurs are long term defensive options.  Leicester is in that region and Francis is the cheap bench filler

In the midfield Mahrez and Ozil are the consistent high ownership players that can’t be ignored due to that and form/consistency.  Yaya and Siggy are the fixture picks

See my fixture ease schedule for the stats on Yaya and Siggy and to see a comparison of the 3 City players

Up front the choice was fairly easy. It was only whether I wanted Costa or Lukaku in the team despite them having no GW30 fixtures and rearranging the bench.

GW30 players

Here’s the team as it would line up for GW30 assuming Arsenal win their FA Cup replay and their GW30 team is postponed

Forster

Dier, Otamendi, Huth, Francis

Mahrez, YYT, Siggy

Kane, Aguero, Vardy

Bench:  Antonio, Ozil, Bellerin

Double Gameweek Players

The 3 Man City players would have a DGW at some stage from their postponed game against Newcastle.  There appears to be room in GW34

Also a potential DGW34 Antonio and Hennessey plus Ozil and Bellerin depending on the replay against Hull.

That gives you 7 players already with DGWs if you count Arsenal.  Plus 5 transfers before a DGW34.

Although you will have to keep a watch out for the blanks in GW35 for the FA Cup semis.  Its worth noting that Man Utd v West Ham on GW35 has been postponed which may put you off Antonio.  They play each other in the quarters which is why.

However I’ll be keep a close eye on the permutations to help you through although I’m keen, despite the above, not to tie myself and everyone else up in knots too early.  The FA have shown that anything is possible unfortunately.
