FPL TEAMS GW22 – FFGEEK CONTRIBUTORS SHOW THEIR TEAMS

Here’s a version of the 10 or so FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont covering early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

There’s also the early FFGeek team thoughts article if you’re interested in my team

NOTE:  Some of the teams write ups came to me last night before there was any speculation over Salah being anything more than a doubt for GW22.  They have to be read in that context

GW21 review

Another pleasing gameweek in the end despite only 9 of my squad starting and just Sterling coming off the bench.

The bulk of the 67 points came from 2 sources: 4/5 clean sheets (+ some handy bonus points) and captain Salah’s 28 point haul. My flip to Salah from Morata on Saturday morning certainly paid off in the end – sonetimes you get lucky! A good set of returns in what looked on paper to be a potentially troublesome week.

2 words for you – DOUBLE GAMEWEEK!

Are there any FPL managers who don’t love these weeks? Ok now I’ve got the excitement out the way here’s my team!

I already had Kane and Ogbonna in my squad and I have carried 2 free transfers over. First up was using these and I’ve spent them both in midfield. Hazard makes way after a disappointing 5 weeks in my team to free up funds with budget mid Loftus-Cheek the other player to depart.

In come Son and Arnautovic who have both been in great form of late. I did also consider Alli and Lanzini, but the former’s price made getting another midfielder difficult and Arnie is in better form at the moment.

I’ve also decided to take a -4 and roll the dice on a 5th DGW player. Reserve goalie Krul makes way and Adrian comes in. It’s a calculated gamble, but I reckon I’ve got a good chance of at worst breaking even on it this week, especially with my first choice Courtois facing a tricky game at The Emirates. It also clears a non-playing team member from my squad.

Here’s my team:

I’m currently undecided on captain but I’m probably going Kane unless any obvious news of him missing the Swansea game emerges before tomorrow’s 1130 deadline in which case I’ll go Son. I’m hoping I haven’t used up all my captain luck this week. If there hadn’t been an injury worry then I might have used my Triple Captain Chip but I’m saving that for now.

Sorry for the more brief write up but it’s a quick turnaround! A very Happy Hogmanay to you all and all the best for 2018; here’s hoping it’s filled with an abundance of green arrows

GW21 Summary

I’m writing this after the conclusion of the City match on Sunday and I am currently projected to pick up a small green arrow. I’m pretty happy with this result given that my aim was consolidation in GW21; especially considering that I only had 10 players. My captain scored big for the third successive gameweek as Salah scored a brace, though having watched Match of the Day, he could have easily had 4 or 5. My transfer was also successful – Dunk will be coming off my bench with 6 points. Elsewhere, there were clean sheets and bonus points for Jones and Otamendi, while Richarlison picked up another assist. Overall, I’m happy with my GW21 score and I’m ready to attack the double gameweek.

GW22 Team

That’s what this week is all about and naturally my transfers are concentrating on players who play twice. Hazard hasn’t been in the greatest form (1 assist in his last 6 games) and with his high price tag and recent benchings, he is the sacrifice in order to raise funds for these players. Also leaving the team will be Loftus-Cheek who has been a loyal servant over the season, but he will now be replaced as the team transitions to a 3-5-2 setup. Arnautovic and Son come in, who are the form midfield players for West Ham and Spurs respectively and still possess a low enough ownership to be considered
differentials.

As mentioned in last week’s article, I had wanted to bring in Adrian for Fabianski in GW21, but the injury to Elliot made that unfeasible. Instead, I will be making that move this week which means I will be taking my first -4 since GW14; an impressive feat for someone who normally loves taking hits! Cheap keepers performed very well in double gameweeks last year and there is the added benefit that West Ham have some good fixtures ahead. The Spaniard also rotates well with Elliot.

Kane as captain was a no-brainer; the only question had been whether to use the triple captain chip. However, the illness revelation on Friday has put some fear into me where I had previously been 99% to use the chip. Unless we see or hear something conclusive by Monday, I will probably just captain him and there is even the possibility that I shift the armband to Son.

With the Kane as captain along with three other double gameweekers in play, this looks like a great opportunity to climb the rankings. If Spurs perform well, it should be a healthy green arrow for my team.

Looking ahead

With the value in midfield, I am happy with the move into a 3-5-2 formation and will continue playing this. Calvert-Lewin could become an issue as Big Sam is looking to sign a striker and he is a little expensive as bench fodder. I will be looking to sell him for Quaner in the near future for some extra cash. This would allow me to also bring in someone like Coutinho (transfer to Barcelona dependent) for Son as there are a couple tough fixtures on the horizon.

Best of luck in the double gameweek everyone and may your arrows be green!

Another pleasing week and into the top 10k. Finally correct capos and solid defence is paying off.

On to this week. Two free transfers used selling Hazard and RLC to double game week players Arnie and Son. I already had Kane and Adrian.

With the news Salah is out I may take a -4 to get Alli or Erickson in but undecided as I’d lose 0.5 million on Salah.

Sorry it’s brief but I need to decide if I’m taking a hit or not before bed!

Good luck all.

CESSPOOL AKA SCOTT HARGADON

GW21 turned on the choice of captain—I took Morata while the right choice was Salah. How Morata did not take any points from the 5-0 bashing of Stoke’s B squad I will never know. Not much good happened this week other than my choice of Brighton defender Dunk on a transfer brought a cleansheet and a bonus point.

This was a bad gameweek in a number of ways. Lukaku got a concussion. Ashley Young gets three games off for violent conduct. Puncheon injures DeBruyne in a reckless manner. Jesus limps off. Salah limps off. Phil Neville calls Kolasinac fat. American TV commentator Robbie Mustoe literally went off on Mike Dean over the penalty call against Arsenal. All the US commentators went off on Mourinho. EPL looks more and more like the world at large.

I am exhausted too. Trying to deal with the continuing injuries and an ever-changing landscape has made me tired and irritable. Remember when we thought we could rely on Big Sam’s defense? Remember when City scored four goals a game? Remember when it was best to have wingbacks? Three big strikers? Five premium mids? It’s all up in the air. So many decisions being made on the thinnest of margins.

So this week we have a double gameweek. I made two transfers early: Fabianski to Adrian and Pogba to Son. I thought I was done with a -4. Not so fast.

Salah is apparently not playing this week and Klopp has pledged many changes for the Reds at Burnley. Coutinho, contrary to my belief that he would stay through May, is apparently being sold to Barcelona in the next three days. A respected football reporter in Brazil reports the deal is done and it includes a mid going to Liverpool. A Spanish website showed a Nike Barca jersey with his name on it. And finally, Coutinho did not train today. Will he play against Burnley? Seems doubtful and without Salah and Coutinho, I am left with only Surman who is a late fitness test on the bench. So I have decided to take another hit and bring in Dele Alli for the double in place of Coutinho. Spurs fixtures look good, they seem to have a bit of confidence back and the extra game underwrites half of the four point hit IF HE PLAYS BOTH GAMES. Even if he only plays one, it is a better bet than Countinho not playing.

I will be captaining Kane like everyone else. His recent illness may limit his minutes so I would advise against a triple captain option.

I considered the Free Hit chip once again. It is alluring to have six DGW players and also bring in Aguero. But I do not trust West Ham to deliver results—I think Free hit should be used when there are four or more teams with two games. In looking at web traffic about this gameweek, it seems many players are either using Free Hit or taking a -8 to try to maximize their value. I guess I will do the latter reluctantly.

I have been seesawing back and forth in Overall Rank the last 8 GW’s and struggling with each one due to injuries. I am glad the “Festive” period will be ending—I write this on New Year’s Eve sitting at my computer.

Happy New Year to you and yours wherever you are in the world.

Took a massive gamble last week with Chelsea and I paid the price as Chelsea went rampant as I thought they would but none of the layers I picked did anything. Had to do damage control this week and took a 8 point hit. Hopefully this will stop the bleeding. I took two more gambles on differentials as I am hoping Son does not get rotated as well as Cresswell. Good luck all.
