Ok, nearly time to stop tinkering, as the season is less than a week away. I have made some changes from my first draft, but not wholesale ones.

Here’s the team:

I’ve left £1m in the bank for some future transfer flexibility.

Defence

With some previous chooses having no game time security, I’ve done some switching. Gone is Holgate / Martina (although I still think Martina will be first choice), and Baines went in. However, I then read FFGs team article, and he made an excellent point about Valencia. Last season he was classified as a midfielder, and scored 98 points. Had he been classified as a defender, can probably add something like 60, 70 or even 80 extra points onto that for clean sheets, so he suddenly becomes a decent option, especially with Jose seemingly loving him.

To keep an Evertonian in my team, I’ve swapped Begovic to Pickford. I’ve still got some doubts whether he will play in the Europa league (played 1 of 2 qualifying matches so far) though.

Trippier, Matip and Cedric stay in (Cedric was swapped to Yoshida recently, but swapped back again). Read a report yesterday my someone scouting FPL players, and he said Cedric looked like he hadn’t been on holiday, and looked very dangerous (saints kept clean sheet as well), and with their early fixtures, I just couldn’t not have a saints defender. Trippier might yet throw a spanner in the works, with his injury. If it is serious, I’ll probably swap him to Davies.

Midfield

Salah has slowly played his way into my team, at the expense of Coutinho, purely on his preseason form, but I’m also convinced that Coutinho will end up at Barcelona (sorry Liverpool fans!), despite what Klopp keeps saying. Sane and Willian stay in, although Sane has some positional worries (right wing back against the hammers?!), he is just such a tempting price after his form at the end of last season.

Strikers

Up front I’ve gone with the big guns of Kane, Lukaku and Lacazette. Michael Owen has apparently tipped Lacazette for the golden boot this season (possible kiss of death, I know).

Final thoughts and FFGeek league codes

I think I’ve got a fairly balanced team now, 10 players in Europe, including possible 3 in the qualifiers, and 1 with great fixtures. Hopefully this will be my final choice, with atm just Trippier needing watching.

Good luck to everyone for the season ahead, and don’t forget to join the FFG leagues! Standard league pin – SGDKX9Y3, H2H league pin – SGFU3CR9 (1 team per person in this one, due to limited space).
