Barclays fantasy premier league “ones to watch” game week 13

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s the GW13  fantasy premier league “ones to watch”.  This is a menu of fantasy premier league players to pick from for your team with factors stating why. (values as at Wednesday  21/11 PM)

If you’re not familiar with the format I’ve  put the removals from last week  in strikethrough to show you who has come off from last week.    The new fantasy premier league players and reasons why are added  in italics to make it easier to follow.

Ive added a new feature putting BUY HOLD or SELL next to players to clarify my position an all players except budget and bubbling under players.  It aso makes it easier for people wanting a quick look rather than going through the whole article.       At the bottom is a key if you want a bit more detail on the factors listed

GOALKEEPER

Hart – £6.9m – quality fixtures HOLD

A few tricky fixtures coming up but still worth keeping as te elite keeper of choice

Ruddy £4.6m budget

Needs home and away rotation with another GK but fewer and fewer options in the budget section.  The Norwich defence again showed is mettle against Man u

Jaaskelainen £5.1m budget  SELL

Fixtures are finished.  I don’t believe the West Ham defence is good enough to hold with these fixtures starting with spurs away

Begovic £5.1m budget fixtures

They’ve had the golden period of fixtures but they’re still the best defence outside the elite teams

Mannone -£4.6m budget fixtures SELL

He’s back, Szczesny started last week and now its time to sell.

Guzan – £4.5m budget

Can anybody be first choice with Lambert in charge.    Tricky fixtures starting with Arsenal at home.  Rotation only

De Gea – £5.6m BUY

Great fixtures have started  Defensive stats arent the best  for the elite clubs but by no means bad and lets not forget the same defence got 20 clean sheets last year.   problem is the wisdom teeth injury although he’s supposed to be back for the QPR game.   Maybe Gazzaniga or Tremmel at £4.0 although they both have serious game time risk.

DEFENCE

Rafael – £6.4m –  attack HOLD

Fixtures are great but the game time risk increases as Smalling and Jones return.  Has good attacking potential.  Now so expensive that i wouldnt buy but its too early and the fixtures too good to sell now.

Jagielka  – £6.1m fixtures. HOLD

Home to Norwich, surely this is the time to get a clean sheet.  Has really shown some attacking potential recently

Huth£5.5m fixtures attack HOLD

Not the time to buy with the fixtures getting a little trickier but definitely too good to sell.  Huth hasn’t delivered his attacking potential but its there especially with Adam on set pieces.  Shawcross is cheaper at £5.2=m  and Cameron at £4.7m.  All should play after the injury to Wilson.

Simpson £4.8m fixtures SELL

Abysmal defensive performance against Swansea and in my mind the time to sell.

Santon £5.0m SELL

Same comments apply.

Cuellar £4.5m fixtures BUY

I wouldn’t count on him scoring again this season but Sunderlad have potential to get clean sheets at home ad 2 games in GW16.  add to that good fixtures generally and its time to buy as a rotation

Johnson £6.3m fixtures BUY

The class act in the Liverpool defence with the great attacking potential that has cooled in the last few weeks.   The Liverpool defence is statistically very strong.  Wisdom is the value buy at £4.5m but has game time risk

Wisdom – £4.5m budget

Great value for a player in the 2nd best defence with the 3rd best fixtures.  Worth the game time risk

Sagna £5.4m BUY

The Arsenal defence is underated and Sagna also bring s good attacking potential at a really reasonable price.  Good fixtures as well

Budget

Clyne £4.0m– Saints attack.

Fonte £4.1m– Saints  attack

Gorkks – £4.0m  Reading.  2 games in game week 16

Nelsen – QPR £4.0m fixtures SELL defence really has nothing to offer.  Hasnt had any attacking threat

Davies £4.0m budget– Seems to be holding his place as Swansea LB. Fixtures are now ordinary.  Rotation only.

Turner(Norwich) £4.2m budget

Best value out of the underrated Norwich defence and also has historic attacking potential. Still only a rotation option.

Shorey £4.1m Budget

Alternative option as a rotation filler to Gorkss at virtually the same price.  Takes free kicks so has some assist potential

MIDFIELD

Pienaar –  £6.9m – fixtures.HOLD

Sell after the Norwich game. Hasn’t returned for 4 games.

Fellaini – £7.7m form.  fixtures. HOLD (SUSPENDED 1 GAME)

Top of the shooting stats although has had a couple of quiet games which have seen him drop a little in he last 6 table the fact that hes relatively cheap and with nolan so far ahead in the shooting stats it seems worth holding to see how he copes when the fixtures drop off.

Cazorla – £9.4m  quality.  HOLD

The goal and assist and the 3 bonus points didnt mask what was an ordinary stat performance.  the fixtures are too good to sell and with walcott injured there’s no other midfield option so its still a hold for me.

Lallana – £6.0m – fixtures form HOLD

Disapointing that no returns came from Swansea at home and QPR away and stats havent been anything to write home about either.  Fixtures arent too bad

NEW H NOR H LIV A RDG H and then a blank.  review after the 2 home games befoe Liverpool

Ben Arfa.   – £7.8m Quality.   HOLD

Had a storming game which amazingly didn’t lead to returns against Swansea.  Fundamentally shoots outside the box far too much for me and I wuld be looking seriously to sell after the sainst away game this week but before Stoke away.

Walters – £6.3m fixtures HOLD

Faith in fixtures saw a 9 point return for Walters.  Hold at least the next 2 of Fulham home and Newcastle H.

McAnuff – £5.1m fixtures HOLD

The only certain attacking starter in the Reading midfield.  An assist based player only but still the best option in the Reading midfield. probably worth holding until after the 2 games in game week 16

Valencia £8.6m – fixtures BUY

If RVP is too expensive for your Utd coverage then he’s you’re next best bet for reliability of selection.  I probably prefer Young as a fantasy premier league player but Valencia has more game time prospects.  If you are having an assist based player then one who is feeding chances to RVP and Rooney is one to have.

Taarabt – £5.5m fixtures  SELL

The little run of fixtures has just ended without the returns he deserved.  Man Utd away is always a good time to sell

Mata £9.6m form HOLD

Fixtures aren’t easy but he’s the closest to a fixture proof midfielder that there is at the moment.  Bale is more proven after last season but Mata intuitively looks like a better captain option if needed.    MCY (H) FUL (H) WHM (A) SUN (A) are tricky fixtures though apart from the Fulham game.  You really have to have faith.  The Benitez effect can only be negative in my mind.  Personally I wouldn’t buy him with those fixtures but I’m not sure I would sell either in the forms he’s in.

Sterling £5.5m BUY

Place seems assured.  An attacking midfielder for Liverpool at this price with these fixtures is great value.

Budget £4.5m ish

Schneiderlin – £4.4m  Saints

Puncheon – £4.5m Saints

Has more attacking potential than Schneiderlin but also more game time risk with Do Prado, Ramirez and Rodriguez.  This is exacerbated by a manager who tinkers too much and who has dropped Lambert which is a mind boggling decision

FORWARDS

Tevez £9.4m – quality. form fixtures. HOLD

If you sold before the villa game for anyone other than Suarez then I hate to say I told you so.  Fixtures now really aren’t easy but I wouldn’t blame anyone for wanting City coverage.  Personally I’m going to sell for Suarez this weekend.

RVP – £13.7m – QUALITY. BUY

The only really reliable coverage for the Utd team at the moment with the midfield rotation and Rooney dropping deeper.  Underlying stats aren’t as good as last year but is finishing off chances when they come.  Game against Norwich though shows how vital Rooney is for him.  Fixtures are now fantastic

Jelavic – £8.5m – fixtures quality form HOLD

A sell after the home game to Norwich.

Lambert – £6.0m  form. Fixtures.  value HOLD

Fixtures are still holding up with Newcastle and Norwich visiting in successive game weeks .  I wouldnt buy but i wouldn’t be selling

Ba – £8.3m  form fixtures. BUY

How he didnt get a hat trick against Swansea is beyond me.  Great stats and good fixtures as follows

South A
Stoke H
Wigan  H
Ful A

Aguero – £11.0m.  QUALITY  HOLD

Been rotated far too much and has a patchy record for him but showed his finishing quality and he’s probably the best striker in the league apart from RVP.  Fixtures aren’t great but I would stick with him

Suarez – £10.3m fixtures BUY

Great fixtures.  Miles ahead of everyone in the shooting stats and now seems to have turned it in to goals.  Next 2 fixtures are Swa A and Spurs A which gives scope to defer a transfer.  I’m personally buying this weekend

Crouch £6.8m  value fixtures HOLD

His recent record is 2 2 1 2 5 2 which is appaling given the fixtures.  However I would probably hold until the Fulham and Newcastle home games have finished unless there was some compelling purchase.

Holt £6.0m HOLD

A good run of fixtures after Everton away

South A
Sun H
Swa A
Wig H

has been on the fringe of the shooting stats.  i personally think there are better options but i would probably hold on for the above 4 fixtures unless I needed to get suarez or such like

Giroud £8.4m BUY

Now features prominently in the shooting stats tables and with good fixtures this is definitely the time to buy

I’m not putting a budget section for strikers.  I just think the position is too important and there’s too much quality to put a filler in.

KEY

quality – an elite player for his position

value – a player at a value that is less than the returns I expect

fixtures – a player facing good fixtures over the next 6 games

budget – filler at the minimum price the position allows. Should play

sleeping giant – a player with past form who may have had a quiet season last year but has the potential for far greater returns than his value

YC – card magnet

DGW – has 2 games in the specified game week

pre-season – has pre-season form

pens – should take penalties

short term – will only play for a few games

Form – current form

hope that stimulates some thought for your fantasy premier league team.
