We’ve also added good fixture clumps at the end for you to be aware of before transfers in and out.

An introduction

My intention at the moment is to take the fixture difficulty ranking from the Official FPL site with some slight adjustments. That schedule doesn’t differentiate between attack and defence and is an overall ranking. You will see their fixture difficulty when you look at a player in detail on the FPL site.

The schedule below uses the official rankings to rank them from easiest at the top to hardest at the bottom. The order of the teams is for GW8-13. The figure in the right hand column is the ranking from from GW8-10

So here I give attacking and defensive player suggestions for players with good 6 week and 3 week fixtures.  In this case it’s Brighton, Leicester and Arsenal

Brighton

With Gross still an injury doubt there are 2 players for me here.  Striker Glen Murray and Midfielder Knockaert.

£6.5m fwd Murray has scored 4 goals in 6 starts plus 1 as sub at a PP90 of 4.8.  While Gross is injured he will have pens although whether he keeps them after Gross’s return is another matter.  Not great underlying stats.

£5.5m mid Knockaert has scored 1 goal and 3 assists in his 7 starts where he’s averaged 84 mins per start with a PP90 of 4.2.  He actually has good underlying stats too although I’ve inexplicably missed him off my cumulative underlying stats article to GW7

If you’re looking for a defender £4.5m CB Duffy is my pick here

Newcastle (A)
Wolves (H)
Everton (A)
Cardiff (A)
Leicester (H)

Leicester

2 players here for me.  Forward Vardy and Midfielder Maddison

£8.9m forward Vardy has started 4 games and 1 as sub for 3 goals and an assist at a pretty reasonable PP90 of 6.8 which has also been negatively affected by a sending off.  Has penalties as well and posting very good underlying stats.

£6.9m mid Maddison has started all 7 games for 3 goals and 2 assists returning in 5 of the 7 games for an impressive PP90 of 6.5.  His underlying stats aren’t so great and tend to show that his scoring isn’t sustainable.  However he is a very good creative force and has good set piece representation.  Now playing as an LAM rather than the early season CAM but tends to drift in centrally to get involve.  He’s averaging 80 mins per game which is a tad annoying.

Defender picks are interesting.  There are no £4.5m options which for me is where Leicester are at.  Despite his 18 point haul at the weekend I’m not sure Maguire is a £5.5m player and if I had to chose I would go for LB Chilwell at £5.0m

Everton (H)
Arsenal (A)
West Ham (H)
Cardiff (A)
Burnley (H)
Brighton (A)

Arsenal

I don’t really understand Arsenal at the moment.  The manager seems to have decided to play all his attacking players in positions that they are unsuited to.  For that reason I’m only going with Lacazette at the moment who is 1 player in his proper position as CF.  Ozil, Ramsey and Aubameyang are players I like but Ozil as a RAM, Ramsey as a CAM and Aubameyang as a LW just don’t seem to make sense and all their underlying stats are nothing short of appalling

£9.5m forward Lacazette has started the last 4 games as CF playing 90 minutes in each and scoring 2 goals and 3 assists in those games at an impressive PP90 of 7.5.  His underlying stats over those 4 games have generally been good.

£5.5m Monreal to me is the best defender to have for me.  £4.4m Holding would be great if he can hold onto his place which has to be questionable but worth monitoring

Leicester (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
