Key:
PPG Rank: This is my ranking although there are enough stats to take your own view
Minute per FPL points: This is how many minutes it took to get an FPL point. The lower the better. Estimated for Depay and Payet.
Consistency: the % of games that a player returned a goal or assist. Sub appearances are counted. Estimated as above
10+ point % The % of games 10 FPL points or more are scored. Estimated as above
SP/Pens: An indicator whether the player has significant set piece involvement or penalty duties
Position: An indicator of their predominant position. This is pretty subjective so please no stick
Hazard
The best all round midfielder without question. The most consistent last season as well as the most explosive and the best FPL PPG rating. The negative are the fixtures but if there’s a potential season keeper captain choice Hazard is it. Only Silva and Hazard last season completed the double double of goals and assists
Swansea (H)
Man City (A)
West Brom (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Everton (A).
Arsenal (H)
Walcott
I’ve written this just before the community shield which should answer some questions. However given gametime and especially as a striker he can be lethal. It’s just whether he will start and/or player striker for GW1 and whether he will keep it when Sanchez is back
West Ham (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)
Newcastle (A)
Stoke (H)
Chelsea (A)
Depay
Playing well as a support striker with Wayne Rooney in pre-season, great stats from the Dutch league and some good fixtures especially early on
Spurs (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Newcastle (H)
Swansea (A)
Liverpool (H)
Southampton (A)
Mane
Playing in an advanced position in a team with good fixtures to start. A good goal scoring midfielder with good fixtures. Could be a rotation risk early on with the Europa League and playing on Thursday before GW1 if he doesn’t isn’t ideal
Newcastle (A)
Everton (H)
Watford (A)
Norwich (H)
West Brom (A)
Man Utd (H)
Silva
A very consistent performer who has the negatives of a tricky first few games and no Aguero on the end of his assists potentially. However looks likely to play in a centrally advanced role which will increase the opportunities. With Hazard the only player to do the double double of goals and assists with 12 each.
West Brom (A)
Chelsea (H)
Everton (A)
Watford (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
West Ham (H)
Ozil
It was a season of 2 halves as he started poorly and finished strongly. Will play as the CAM so certainly in the position to succeed. The question is over whether he can score enough goals.
West Ham (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)
Newcastle (A)
Stoke (H)
Chelsea (A)
Mata
Seems to have established himself on the right of midfield and then drifting in Silva style. Has the advantage of premier league experience over Depay but Depay seems more explosive and positioned better. Good fixtures early on.
Spurs (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Newcastle (H)
Swansea (A)
Liverpool (H)
Southampton (A)
Ramsey
As for Walcott there’s a little confusion over position and gametime which the community shield should help to resolve. Could be in the double pivot or could be on the right. A central position would suit him best to be able to perform those trademark runs into the box
West Ham (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)
Newcastle (A)
Stoke (H)
Chelsea (A)
Sterling
Had a good pre-season and until Aguero and Bony are fit may even play as a forward. His pace and ability to get behind teams will help especially on the break. The question is how productive can he be from the wide position
West Brom (A)
Chelsea (H)
Everton (A)
Watford (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
West Ham (H)
Fabregas
The assist master probably will play in the double pivot again where he just desn’t seem to have the box to box scoring presence of a say Ramsey. Set piece and passing potential though sees consistent returns. Tricky fixtures to start
Swansea (H)
Man City (A)
West Brom (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Everton (A)
Arsenal (H)
Eriksen
For a guy who takes all the set pieces for Spurs and gets into the box as much as he does his returns are pretty ordinary and very inconsistent. Fixtures are a little mixed but he certainly has the potential to score big
Man Utd (A)
Stoke (H)
Leicester (A)
Everton (H)
Sunderland (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Another player like Ramsey who’s likely to play in the double pivot of 4-2-3-1 unless Wenger goes to 4-1-4-1. Does the advantage of good early fixtures and pens plus a share of set pieces.
The former Marseille midfielder who last year scored 6 goals and 21 assists has looked good in pre-season despite West Ham’s pretty ordinary form. The home fixtures are very good if not the away ones so he does have the chance to shine in the CAM position. Should have a good share of set pieces. It’s just how he finds the translation to the premier league in a middle of the tableish team
Didn’t go to the Copa America due to injury so should be well rested. The question is gametime and tricky fixtures
After a pretty mixed season it remains to be seen what contribution YYT can make. Will probably still play in the double pivot position which will limit attacking opportunities. Should have pens while Aguero is off the field.
Performed well in the CAM position last season. Has lost Bony which does limit the targets for his assists although Gomis did show some form at the end of the season. Mixed fixtures.
