fantasy premier league double game week – GW26

Fantasy Premier League

A Fantasy premier league double game week!   Worth an article in themselves so just in case you’re not aware GW26 is a  fantasy premier league double game week.

Liverpool and Swansea play twice in GW26.

Here’s the fixtures:

09 Feb 15:00SwanseaSwanseavQPRQPR

11 Feb 20:00LiverpoolLiverpoolvWest BromWest Brom
17 Feb 15:00LiverpoolLiverpoolvSwanseaSwansea

Very good for Liverpool where you could quite easily gamble and anticipate 2 clean sheets.  The first fixture is good for Swansea the latter will be diffivcult for any returns

There is a big HOWEVER though.  Neither Liverpool or Swansea have a game in GW27.  Therefore leaving Wildcards aside then the maximum players you can have in GW26 from either team is 4 or 5 if you have 2 stored up which will allow you 1 or 2 transfers  before neither play in GW27.

However, that assumes you can field your normal “reserve players” or that you arent overstocked on Chelsea players where who knows who will be in the lineup next.  My gamble of Wilson as a Stoke cheapie who’s not fit is now not looking a great idea.  Whats worse is that in addition  there are 2 weeks between GW26 and GW27. GW26 starts on the 9th February.  GW27 starts on the 23rd Feb.

In between that there are the following competitions:

FA CUP – 16,17 and 18th February

Europa – 14 and 21st February

Champions league – 12/13 February and 19/20 February

My point is that 2 weeks is a long time for training injuries at this time in winter but there are also a number of games where injuries could occur and having 3 Liverpool/Swansea players on the bench who aren’t playing could see a number of no shows in your GW27 team which would negate all the good work done in GW27.  maybe then you should have 1 playing reserve as cover and only 2 Liverpool/Swansea players on the bench. Obviously of you have 2 saved up transfers then 3 on the bench is a different story.

In terms of the fixtures after the next 3 for both teams are a little mixed but not so bad that you wouldnt want players in there  for your DGW

Here they are

Liverpool

GW28 – Wigan A

GW29 – Spurs H

GW30 – Southampton A

Swansea

GW28 – Newcastle H

GW29 – WBA A

GW30 – Arsenal H

Having said all that  it seems natural that at least 1 Liverpool defender should be in your team.  Agger and Johnson are the most certain but the most expensive.  Enrique offers a cheaper alternative if he’s match fit.  Suarez sounds the natural captain but last night as fantasy premier leagues most expensive left winger was a very disturbing sight despite the goal which shouldn’t distract from how far he was from the action.  Gerrard is the obvious midfield option albeit an expensive one.

For Swansea everyone will have Michu anyway and a lot of people Davies and to be honest I don’t think you need any more.

Therefore here’s what i see as the likely 4 you could have

1.  Liverpool defender

2.  Suarez

3.  Michu

4.  Swansea defender (Davies or Rangel assuming Tiendalli doesnt play)  or if gambling on Liverpool – Gerrard, another Liverpool defender or Sturridge

Hope that gives everyone some initial thoughts on he fantasy premier league double game week GW26. The time to start planning is now with GW25 only 2 days away on Saturday.
