Fantasy premier league – GW16 my imaginary wildcard

various

Here’s my fantasy premier league imaginary wildcard team for gameweek 16. Its a team for the future as if I was using my wildcard, not just GW16

fantasy premier league – my imaginary wildcard team for GW16

I’ve dovetailed it in with my “ones to watch” articles so you can see the stats while viewing the team. Obviously when doing a wildcard team you can take a few more chances and in order to make the numbers up you add in players that you may have classified as hold in case you were wondering.  Some of the numbers are my sell values by the way not the buy prices.

By the way I wouldn’t really do your wildcard now with the January fantasy premier league coming up.  This is just for ideas.

Hull City

McGregor
£4.4
The 2nd best home defence  and a good value cheap rotation option.
Southampton
Remove player i
Gazzaniga
£4.0
Third choice keeper with both Boruc and Davis injured.  Boruc is not back until mid Jan.  Davis has no return date. Gazzaniga will need replacing at some time.
Chelsea

Terry
£6.6
Overall defensive rankings:  Home defence 8/40   Away defence 14/40  Clean sheets:  4
7 goals conceded in 3 games. 6 against 2 of the worst attacking teams in fantasy premier league. Only 4 clean sheets to date and 17 goals conceded. I actually thought they were unlucky against Stoke. The stats weren’t too bad and they lost to a wonder goal and a ridiculous error from Cech. The underlying stats are why I’ve still got faith. Prospect of 4 clean sheets in the next 6 though. There’s alot of talk about set piece vulnerability but I cant believe with Terry and Ivanovic that it isn’t a fixable issue. What ever you think don’t sell before a Crystal palace home game.Terry is my top choice at £6.6m. He’s 23 points better off than any other option. He’s the best attacking prospect and a bonus magnet with 13 points already.
Arsenal

Mertesacker
£6.0

Overall defensive rankings:  home defence  5/40   Away defence 7/40    Clean sheets:  6A reasonably solid defensive performance at home to Everton although not getting protection from the double pivot with Ramsey practically playing as another attacking player.  I ranked them the  number 1 overall defence at the moment in my mind.  3 clean sheets in the last 5 games.  Next 2 games will be difficult to get a clean sheet though.  After that there’s a good chance of 3/4 clean sheets.Mertesacker is definitely the top option for attacking and bonus points at the moment but far more expensive at £6.0m.

Tottenham

Dawson
£5.1
Overall defensive rankings:  Home defence 15/40   Away defence 6/40  Clean sheets 7I thought there defensive performance against Sunderland would have been slightly better.  Especially as they are better away than at home.  Had a couple of spectacular wobbles with a beating from City and West Ham but have been very solid to date with 7 clean sheets and 16 goals conceded.  Only Everton have got more clean sheets.  At their best there is a chance for 4 clean sheets in the next 6 fixturesDawson is the cheaper option at £5.4m.  WithVertonghen injured for a month he should hold his place until the January wildcard before you have to see whether its him or Chiriches who is Vertonghens CB partner.

Everton

Jagielka
£5.9
Overall defensive rankings:  Home defence 12/40   Away defence 10/40   Clean sheets:  8Most of the time it was an excellent defensive performance against Arsenal which elevated their defensive status in my mind.  More clean sheets than any other team with 8.  Great run of fixtures with potentially 6 clean sheets available in the next 6.Jagielka is my top choice here at £5.9m.

Liverpool

Flanagan
£4.5
A budget filler while he holds his place.  Hopefully a clean sheet against Cardiff in GW17
Chelsea

Hazard
£9.6
  • Goals and assists:  6 goals 6 assists.  Time per point scored:   13.6  mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 17th.  Consistency 6/15   40%  Last 5 return consistency:  3/5

Disappointed to see him starting against Steaua.  Would be a gut wrencher for all those looking forward to palace visiting Stamford Bridge.  It really is an ideal Hazard “flat track bully” fixture.  However he could be rested for the Cap One quarters instead.  Pretty inconsistent but that’s why you look forward to these games.  Despite all that he does have one of the better sets of underlying stats which also helps keep the faith.

Swansea

Shelvey
£5.6
2 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 looks an excellent record.  Will it continue with Bony and Michu back?  Laudrup will find it hard to drop him.  It will just be about how advanced his midfield position is.
Arsenal

Ramsey
£7.0
  • Goals and assists:  8 goals 5 assists.  Time per point scored:    12.1 mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 18th.  Consistency 9/15  60%  Last 5 return consistency:  2/5

Subbed in the Everton game and a bit of a drop in consistency.  Does make Arsenal more defensively vulnerable by playing so far forward but Wenger will find it hard to drop him for more defensive solidity.  Can score home and away due to ability to find space in the box and his energy on the break.  With more difficult fixtures coming up fantasy premier league managers may feel that Ozil is sufficient Arsenal exposure.  It would take a lot for me to ditch him given his price and ownership.  Showing some decent underlying shooting stats now.  Nothing on the creating chances stats though.

Barkley
£4.8
Excellent play not being translated into returns due to a little lacking in the final ball.  Incredibly not returned in 8 starts.  home to Fulham has to be a great time to put things right
Crystal Palace

Bannan
£4.4
1 goal and 1 assist in the 7 games since back.  Good fixtures.  Creates chances.
Everton

Lukaku
£8.4
  • Goals and assists  8 goals 3 assists.  Time per point scored:  12.8  mins  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 2nd.  Consistency for Everton  8/11   73%  Last 5 return rate:  4/5

This is all about fixtures and price.  Great value for his returns to date.  Excellent fixtures coming up.  Only shadow is the disappearance of creating chances stats which will lead to a slow down in assists.  I think this is because he is constantly trying to get behind the defence rather than someone like Giroud or Rooney who bring others into the game more

Another in great form as well.  Can have games when the ball wont go in for him and rotation are the only shadows.  Best underlying shooting and creating chances stats with Suarez.  Good fixtures after the Arsenal game
