FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW19 MIDFIELDER TIPS – PLAYER RANKINGS

First it’s important to remember that each player is ranked as a transfer target for this week. So while we generally look at fixtures form and underlying stats a player who’s away to Man City is going to be ranked lower than someone home to Huddersfield for example. If possible a transfer should have a good fixture first up.

Firstly there’s a table of stats. Then there’s a bit of brief commentary on each player and their next 6 fixtures.

This is the 3rd player rankings article.  There’s a defenders and forwards article plus a cheap forwards article if you thinking of 3-5-2- or 4-5-1.   You may also find it interesting to see who the 10 top FPL managers I follow have

STATS DEFINITIONS

Fixt Ease: The ease of the mentioned fixture range from an attacking perspective. See our GW19 fixture ease article

The schedule

With no news on David Silva as I write this  I’ve left him out

Sterling

Sterling has an uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time for tap ins and goal scoring and has the returns and the underlying stats to prove it.

He was rested in the week for the EFL Cup game so looks as good a bet as you can get with Pep for starting against Bournemouth.  Probably as good an entry point for a transfer as you will get

Bournemouth (H)
Newcastle (A)
Crystal Palace (A)
Watford (H)
Liverpool (A)
Newcastle (H)

Hazard

Strangely playing as  a false 9 without Morata seems to have blunted him somewhat and it’s 1 assist in his last 3.  Also plays as an LAM or as strike partner with Morata.  Returns have been very good after a slow start and underlying stats are improving likewise.  Tricky fixture next but great 2 fixtures after that.  Has pens and eats bonus points for breakfast.

Everton (A)
Brighton (H)
Stoke (H)
Arsenal (A)
Leicester (H)
Brighton (A)

Salah

Unquestionably the player of the season with fantastic returns and underlying stats to back it up.  Just marked down as a transfer target somewhat due to in part a tricky fixture next

Arsenal (A)
Swansea (H)
Leicester (H)
Burnley (A)
Man City (H)
Swansea (A)

Sanchez

Only 1 assist in his last 4 and the previously excellent underlying stats have also taken a bit of a dip.  Only Man Utd of those 4 was a tricky fixture so that can’t be used as a excuse.  We know he has quality but the price is prohibitive

Liverpool (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
West Brom (A)
Chelsea (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Crystal Palace (H)

De Bruyne

Has really picked up the returns with 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 5 but can’t help thinking he’s an inferior Silva at a more expensive price and that the screamers can’t keep going in.  Has significant set piece responsibility.

Bournemouth (H)
Newcastle (A)
Crystal Palace (A)
Watford (H)
Liverpool (A)
Newcastle (H)

Pogba

Back after a 3 game ban which should help his gametime over the remainder of the Christmas period.  Has fantastic returns and underlying stats which are despite his box to box CM position.  A very consistent 90 minute performer as well

Leicester (A)
Burnley (H)
Southampton (H)
Everton (A)
Stoke (H)
Burnley (A)

Coutinho

A phenomenally explosive player who either seems to blank or get a 10 point plus FPL haul.  Comfortable in a front 3 or in a CM position and returns in both.  Has the majority of set piece responsibility.

Arsenal (A)
Swansea (H)
Leicester (H)
Burnley (A)
Man City (H)
Swansea (A)

Son HM

The form attacking midfielder at the moment for Spurs who has been in great form with 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 4.  Great at getting into the box.  Has some gametime risk if Spurs go to a back 3 and with the re-emergence of Lamela.  Has played less minutes than Eriksen and Alli which could help his security over the Christmas period.  Double gameweek in GW22 and blank in GW21

Burnley (A)
Southampton (H)
GW21
Swansea (A) GW22
West Ham (H) GW22
Everton (H)
Southampton (A)

Arnautovic

The West Ham AM has been playing as a forward or an attacking midfielder and 2 goals in his last 3 games have also seen an upturn in the underlying stats.  Has a double gameweek in GW22 and a blank week in GW21

GW19 Newcastle (H)
GW20 Bournemouth (A)
GW21 None
GW22 West Brom (H)
GW22 Spurs (A)
GW23 Huddersfield (A)
GW24 Bournemouth (H)
