Hi and welcome to Gameweek 33 Player Picks. For each gameweek, I’ll be picking out 3 players in distinct player selection categories.

One Banker – this will take form and the fixture ease schedule into account and is a player who I think is a must for the next few gameweeks and should provide a steady stream of points.

One Ace – a player who I think has a good chance of scoring big this week. I’ll take form, this weeks fixtures and the bookies odds into account here.

One Joker – a player who is a bit of punt but I think may surprise a few people. Might be a low ownership player, someone coming back from injury or just a bit of a gut feeling on my part – there will be no evidence base on this one!

I’ll review my picks each week, with the Banker being reviewed over 4 weeks and the Joker and Ace on an individual weekly basis. Wish me luck – here goes!

Gameweek 32 Review

GW29 Banker – Lorius Karius

GW29 – 8 points (clean sheet, 2 bonus points)

GW30 – 1 point (2 goals conceded)

GW31 – 6 points (clean sheet)

GW32 – 1 point (1 goal conceded, yellow card) – At fault for the Palace penalty, but still nailed on as Liverpool’s number one. Kept a clean sheet versus City in midweek where the visitors surprisingly failed to register a shot on target.

GW30 Banker – Zanka

GW30 – 7 points (clean sheet, 1 bonus point)

GW31 – 1 point (2 goals conceded)

GW32 – 2 points (1 goal conceded) – Huddersfield’s disappointing run continues, not just struggling to score but now starting to look vulnerable at the back. Brighton away and Watford at home are 2 key fixtures up next.

GW31 Banker – Junior Stanislas

GW31 – 10 points (1 goal, 3 bonus points)

GW32 – 1 point – subbed off early and now a major injury doubt for GW33 with a tough GW34 double coming up as well.

GW32 Banker – Matthew Lowton

GW32 – 2 points (1 goal conceded) – Unlucky not to get a clean sheet and also missed out on an assist for Burnley’s 2nd goal. Remains a good shout for the next few weeks and budget friendly also.

GW32 Ace – Pierre Emerick Aubameyang

13 points (2 goals, 3 bonus points) – He’s certainly found his stride in the EPL and a nice double figure haul marks his arrival as a genuine premium option. The only disappointment was that he gave up a likely hat-trick to team mate Lacazette, but if nothing else this marks him as a team player and I’m certain there will be more to come.

GW32 Joker – Jamal Lascelles

5 points (clean sheet, yellow card) – Newcastle continued their good run with a narrow win over struggling Huddersfield, which continued to highlight their improving defence. Fixtures are pretty tough now with 3 of the top 6 between now and the season’s end. They will certainly need to make sure they pick up points versus West Brom in GW36 to be sure of safety.

Gameweek 33 Picks

Banker – Dele Alli – (TOT £8.9m)- sto

3 goals and 2 assists in the last 3 matches has seen Alli come firmly back into form in time for the end of the season and the upcoming World Cup. Stoke away isn’t the nightmare fixture it used to be with The Potters boasting a terrible defensive record that has seen them concede 7 goals in the last 3 weeks.

Ace – Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (£10.8m ARS) – SOT

A prime fixture against a struggling Southampton side gets Aubameyang a second consecutive Ace spot. His 2 goals last week served notice of his potential and I suspect that (despite their Thursday night rigours) Arsenal will flat track bully the toiling Saints with Aubameyang in with a great chance of another big haul.

Joker – Glen Murray (£6.0 BRI) – HUD

This fixture is the proverbial 6-pointer. The Seagulls need to bank some more points before a nightmare run-in that features fixtures against all the top 4. Huddersfield badly need goals and points as well, with them also facing some horror fixtures – City, Chelsea and Arsenal in the last 2 GWs. I fancy the home side to take this one and despite a penalty miss last weekend, Murray has 11 goals this season and will surely lead the anytime goalscorer odds in this fixture.

That’s it from me on Player Picks. Good luck this week everyone!
