Introduction

Firstly if you’re new to the site my last 4 seasons overall ranks are 17k, 36k, 17k and 21k.

GW33 review

GW33 points 61 (FPL average 36) Total points 2,161, Overall Rank: 14k, green arrow 4k.  Team Value: £103.6m

I’ve now used all my chips

Here’s the points:

So a 4k green arrow for 61 points and an overall rank of 14k

So only 4 players returning a goal or assist and within that 1 in Iheanacho with double figure points. Two 9 pointers and an 8 were enough for a reasonable green arrow.

Of the players that could hurt my rank Shaw’s 8 points probably did the main damage.

A few words about potential upcoming doubles and blanks

I’m sure most of you have seen the proposals to move fixtures around to allow fans into stadiums for the last 2 gameweeks of the season. This would create some doubles in 35 and blanks in 36 and would be the logical time to add the yet to be rearranged Aston Villa v Everton and Palace v Southampton.

I’ve talked about this in my fixture ease article but to make it easier here’s the schedule from that article. Just to be clear though this is by no means guaranteed and relys on the positive Covid targets.

Here’s how my team is divided up if this happens

Transfer thoughts

2 free transfers and £0.9m in the bank

I would like the flexibility of 2 transfers for GW35 or even GW36 depending on how things work out so for the moment I’m only thinking about 1 transfer this week.

I’m also assuming until I hear otherwise that Kane will be fit

Whats my initial plan

As I said above, all this assumes that Kane is fit to play this week otherwise everything potentially changes.

My aim is to try and maximise the doubles without decimating my team in the blank week and only picking players I believe in.

The other factor is that for GW36 I would like to have Alexander Arnold in the team

Here’s the possible transfers

GW34 Phillips out and Holgate in

This is the spare spot in my defence at the moment. Holgate and Coleman are the 2 Everton defenders I can afford. I think the defence has got some potential and it does have a double and no blank. I worry about both of them to some extent but less about Holgate. He’s versatile but has started the last 13. Ideally I’d like Digne but he’s way outside my budget.

GW35 Son and Vydra out Tyler Roberts and Calvert Lewin in

If I’m going to make any transfers I need to sacrifice one of my preium players to fund it such is my low team value. Unless Kane is injured for GW34 that will fall to Son as Fernandes, who would be the other option, is likely to be in the mix as captain favourite for DGW35

In order to fund Calvert Lewin and then Alexander Arnold I need to get someone in around the £4.5m mark to give some contingency for price changes. There’s no one in the DGW35 but no BGW36 group so at the moment I’m looking at Tyler Roberts of Leeds

GW36 Castagne out and Alexander Arnold in

I have been incredibly lucky with Castagne but Leicesters last 2 fixtures aren’t great and Liverpools last 3 fantastic so it seems right as well as plugging a GW36 blank

Here’s how it looks on Joe’s transfer planner

Here’s how it looks on Joseph Crilley’s transfer planner which has been really helpful in planning for these fixtures. I’ve got an early view from Joe but it should be updated and on the FFGeek Patreon site on Wednesday

So you can see from the above that I end up with 8 players with a 2 fixtures in the double gameweek 35 plus Kane Jota and Salah with good single fixtures.

Blank 36 sees me field 10 players, assuming they start.

I have £0.4m price change contingency which should be interesting for the fixtures

Remember this all assumes things pan out as expected fixture wise and also Kane is fit and lastly that a week of pontificantion by myself doesn’t change things

Hopefully there will be fixture announcements this week and definitely next week if not

Captain Choice

As I’ve said many times in this post I’ve got my fingers crosses Kane will be fit and he wasn’t just playing through pain for the EFL Cup final. If he is fit he will definitely be my captain. Not sure on vice yet. Probably Son.

I might not put the captain poll up until Thursday just in case there’s some people who want to captain a Man City player as they play on Wednesday in the UCL but I might put it up earlier. We’ll see.

It maybe a tricky one to guage depending on when news about Kanes fitness comes through

Lineup issues

For the moment I’m putting the bench as per Joe’s transfer planner. I tend to use that and the bookies odds for decisions. It has the bench as Veltman, Holgate and Vydra

Here’s the team

Pretend Phillips is Holgate.

Hope you had a good gameweek!
