Important note before going further

The first schedule ranks players by their NON penalty underlying stats and expected assists converted to FPL points in GW1-26 . Those who have taken penalties or are expected to be the penalty taker have an * next to their name

The form gives their ranking from the season/last 10 gameweeks/ last 5 gameweeks.  I’ve put them in seperate columns so they are sortable

The F Ease is the fixture ease ranking.

The value for money VFM ratio is the total expected points from their underlying stats divided by their price

The 2nd schedule shows their xG90 (expected goals) and xA90 (expected assists) plus their shots per 90 and key passes per 90.

There’s also anytime goalscorer odds.  There are none for the 2nd game.

I’ve already posted the defender rankings  and you can see GW19 attacking defender rankings

Player values and PPMs are as of Wednesday 3rd  March and before Wednesdays games.

The schedule ranked by Midfielders NON penalty underlying stats over GW1-26

Here is the link to the google spreadsheet. You can go to file>make a copy and then sort it how you like.  700 mins needed to qualify.  Underlying Stats are from the free site understat.com

A few comments

Mane

You’re probably as surprised as me to see him top of the rankings when he’s 12th for midfielders in total points and 14th for Points Per Match (PPM).  However these rankings are objective and merely convert non penalty underlying stats to attacking FPL points.  Interestingly, he’s also top of the last 10 gameweeks although dropped off on the last 5 which I don’t take too seriously anyway.  The fact is he’s been under performing his underlying stats reasonably significantly compared to previous seasons when he has usually over performed them.  The underlying stats are in fact similar to his 18 goal 10 assist last season.  He’s currently 7 and 7.  I expect a big positive correction anytime soon

De Bruyne

The underlying stats have been pretty ordinary in the 3 games he’s been back.  The warning here is that no player has under performed his xG more than De Bruyne.  He consistently over performs.  The volumes are excellent as are the overall underlying stats.  Another player with a huge positive correction coming

Sterling

You may think Sterling has had a pretty ordinary season but his 5.4 PPM is ok and pretty sustainable.  He’s also been surprisingly consistent.  In his 22 starts plus 2 as sub he’s returned a goal or assist  in 14 games.   That’s a 58% return rate.  It’s just the price without penalty duties that makes him a difficult option

Gundogan

The last 2 games since De Bruyne has been back have been pretty ordinary and he was on the bench v Wolves.  Overall though it’s been pretty spectacular and the fact that he’s 2nd ranked in the last 10 says it all

Bruno Fernandes

Has dropped back a bit but a steady supply of penalties and a penchant for trying to play killer passes every time no matter how many times he gives the ball away will see a steady supply of goals and assists.  2 tricky fixtures next before BGW29 against City and West Ham may tempt people to switch if they have a wildcard for GW30

Lingard

Didn’t make the minutes cut but 10th ranked in the last 10 gameweeks and 6th ranked in the last 5 shows the type of form he’s in.  Sustainability is the question.  The underlying stats are better than most previous seasons but not ridiculously so.  He is overperforming them though which is more concerning as he’s a serial underperformer.

Bale

It’s only 3 games and 130 minutes in the last 5 gameweeks but the stats on a 90 minute basis are absolutely eye wateringly good.  How regularly he will play, how much minutes he will get when he does start are all valid questions,  especially when you have the more known options of Son and Kane

Those who didn’t make the schedule due to injuries or gametime risk

Season ranks are in brackets before their name

Injuries

(5) Jack Grealish (17) Harvey Barnes

Gametime risk

(14) Ross Barkley, (21) Jack Harrison, (25) Jarrod Bowen, (26) Trézéguet, (28) Christian Pulisic

Fixture Ease

Here’s a schedule ranking their fixtures over the next 5 gameweeks by the ease of the defences they face
